I have just upgraded to Nero 8 and have a problem copying CD's. Nero thinks every CD I try to copy is an audio CD and only writes 1 audio track on the destination CD. I can copy DVD's without a problem and also burn a data CD with no problems. It doesn't matter if I try to copy a program CD or just a CD with data, I get the same thing, 1 audio track.
Has anyone heard of this problem. I sent an email to Nero 5 days ago and they have yet to respond.
TIA Bob
You aren't, by any chance, trying to copy DRM-protected discs, are you?

No, any CD I try to copy when using multiple drives comes out as a 1 audio track CD. It works fine when I just use my burner to read and write the CD.
I noticed this right in the beginning when I made a data CD of the Nero program and docs, along with my registration number and then tried to make a copy of that.
I still have not heard from Nero support. Doesn't say much for Nero support...

You happen to have a Plextor PX-116A or 130A DVD drive? I do, and I experience exactly the same problems.
Here's the answer I got from Nero Support:

Dear Mr. Bruno Schulz,
thank you for your e-mail.
The Problem is your DVD-ROM. The ReadTrackInfo command send a faulty information to Nero.
In Nero 6 was an workaround implemented for this DVD-Rom. In Nero 8 it is not implemented yet, but it will be implemented soon.
Please check if there is a firmwareupdate available for your DVD-Rom or use the DVD-Writer to read the disc.
Should you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Best Regards,
Max Blank

Thanks for the information. After going around and around with Nero tech support, (they only respond in 2 to 3 week intervals) they sent me the same info. They said they removed a corrective routine from version 8 that was in version 7. I have gone back to version 7 and do not have any problems. Version 7 runs much faster.
Thanks again, Bob

Hi Bob,
Yes, Nero 7 runs faster.
'New' isn't always better (we knew that already)!
Do you also use a Plextor DVD/CD drive?
I am just curious...
Thanks,
Bruno

Bruno,
No, I was having a problem with a DVD-ROM (can't remember which brand) that I was using as a reader. My burner was a Sony and that worked ok if I used it to read and write.
I have since switched to 2 Plextor PX-810SA SATA burners which worked with version 8. But I still went back to version 7.
