This thing is nice! It's rear-projection LCD, so the price is fantastic just as the picture. Full 1080p too. :D I'm sitting here using the PC on it, played Unreal Tournament 3 at 1920x1080@60hz at 70+fps (nana2)

Then watched some HD videos too. MERRY CHRISTMAS (nana2)

I have had an HD-DVD player and a Blurray player, but I eventually sold both until we have a final winner and the prices go down on the players AND on the disks, as they're sometimes $30+ which is stupid.

what ouch about rear projection? maybe he could buy a plasma and have to worry about the having to continuously turn up the brightness until there is no gas left, or maybe you prefer lcd televisions at which point watching anything under 720p looks like a terd that just popped out of my ass. Or maybe you like paying the exact same amount for something half the size that maxes out at 720p and you can "hang" on the wall and think you are straight out of a modern living magazine. Either way it sounds like an uneducated response to a gorgeous purchase.

Ouch, superior image quality.

Sony's $32,999 70" LCD looks inferior to my 70" SXRD that I paid $5,000 for. 6.5x the price for an inferior picture....just so I can hang it over the fireplace? No thanks.

Wow, are you arried to a rear projection TV, or what? Calm the **** down. For personally, LCD is the way to go up to 42" inches, 42" and above will look best with plasma IMO. Rear projection means DLP (spinning wheels, fans, a LAMP ffs) and whatnot (or LCD, but not in this case). Uneducated answer?

Funny, I don't have any spinning wheels. Lamps are a BLESSING. $200, TV is like new again. Plasma's are a joke if you are any sort of video/film enthusiast. Blacks SUCK, color is never correct, they are good for watching TV outside at high noon and nothing more. Rear projection can mean CRT, DLP, LCoS, or LCD. Have you ever seen a plasma undergo any sort of calibration? They can't be calibrated to be accurate.

After more carefully looking up the Sony TV in discussion, I stand corrected. :)

Granted, I haven't been in this business for a while, therefore I'm (obviously) not very updated. I just recently got myself a cheap 32" LG 720P LCD, and I'm satisfied. Blacks could be a bit a bit better, just gotta find that service menu, heh.

RPTV's don't perform well in heavily lighted areas aka Best Buy and Circuit City. I don't watch TV with 10,000 watts of artificial light in my room though.

Of course they don't. Why anyone would think that, I don't know. I guess the same people who don't calibrate their TVs or video sources.

Yeah of course, uneducated fools. But they don't care about image quality either, right? Not in the sense that you and me do, I mean. I spend at least a month reading reviews and comparing products before I buy them... Average Joe doesn't.

I'll take an RP HDTV anyday vs. one hanging on my wall :)

Love the accuracy and suprisingly enough my KDS 60a3000 doesn't suffer at all from all the windows in my living room. My old Mitsu rptv did though.

Oh, and I have noticed that the blacks are EXCELLENT, and it doesn't have that glossy stuff that is so distracting (have a glossy LCD sitting in front of my right now for my desktop/desk area).

Have you hooked it up to a PC? How does the text hold?

Does much better than the other HDTVs I have used, and is easy to browse the net with (several posts here at NVnews were made while using it the other day).

Games like UT3, Call of Duty 4, etc. are GORGEOUS. The picture quality is at least as good as my Samsung 26" CRT HDTV, and that says a lot, as I love CRTs (except for the potential for a headache!)
