Is the game all gone when the puter dies (WOW)

A friends PC stopped working and he says he's at level 40 in WoW (I have no idea)
Is his game kept in his account and when he manages to get back to playing will it still be there for him?

Or must I recover some data from the brokened HDD...

Character information is stored on Blizzard's server, he won't lose anything.

I've played my account on my friend's computer many times so having the info on their end is a huge plus.

All MMOs store everything on the servers.
That ways its alot harder to cheat, a locally stored chacter wouldnt require much to hack and alter.

Also if you cancel the subcribtion the account will be saved (indefintaly I think atleast) so you can get back to your characters anytime you like..
