I have to laugh.
My bf and I both play wow.
Hes been a lot more dedicated than I have and got his fire mage to level 70 yesterday.
Today he turned around to me and said that he just doesnt really feel like playing now that he has got his toon to 70! Hahaha
It took him 3 months to get there.
Has this happened to anyone else?
You spend all that time getting to 70 and then you just turn around and say
"Well I got here...now what?"
"Shall I go defend Hillsbrad foothills or STV" :)
"Shall I start another toon now....."
Maybe thats why I have 5 diff toons all in various stages of levelling...because Im not sure that I ever want to get there.
Is most of the fun the journey to get there?
I'm downloading the trial right now to see if i just can get into the WOW .. so i'll tell ya soon :p
leveling is pretty fun, but at 70 you get a guild, start running instances, heroics and start raiding Karazhan, and after that there are a bunch of bigger raids to move onto when your gear is good enough.
Or just PVP for the fun of it.
I dropped out of the guildraids due to lack of time, so I occationally run BGs to get the honor for some nice PVP gear for my Rogue..
Have some really crappy daggers on him, going for 2x Gladiator mainhand daggers for my mutiliate build

If you want some help, I'll give you a hand if you start on a server I already have some characters on.

getting in a decent guild that is helpful and active to get you geared and be able to raid/group on your schedule. the 5 mans and some of the raids are a lot of fun.
I certainly understand the once you hit 70, you kind of hit the end of the game and want to move on.
Anything I say about certain things should be taken with a grain of salt because I am one of those weirdos that has two lvl 70 druids of different specs.
I have a 70 druid and warrior, both tanks lol.
I just don't have much interest in the game anymore since most people I know quit or play on different servers or faction. I'm in the process of leveling an Ally on a PvP server just to play with one guy I know. :o
The best thing about the game died for me when they quit. Co-op play is my favorite style of all and I haven't been able to do it in months.

yea that does make it hard to want to play when the people that made it fun leave.

In my defense, I picked a Draenei for my Ally toon. I just had to be ugly and have hooves. :p

Ahahaha!
I know what you mean...
Sorry if I am about to offend any alli players out there, but I just find the alli toons so....dull.
The humans all look like snow white or porn stars to me.
Dwarves...well......ick
Gnomes are creepy and liddle.
I did roll a Gnome Rogue though, just for the hell of it, and I have to say...when I could actually see her.....she makes a damn good rogue.
But, I prefer my undead rogue :)
I think the draenei actually look the best...especially when epic'd out.
I hate thier mounts though.

Well after all this, he started doing Arathi Basin BG's and now he has found a new love!
Dva, the game only starts at 70. Actually its kinda sad, 1-60 is now a PITA solo fest cause the population is just to thin. Pre BC, the game didnt have a whole lot to do once you hit 60. You could raid sometimes, but there wasnt much to do outside of that, so leveling alts was a popular thing. Now when people hit 70, the game dosnt stop there. not only do you have raids, but you have heroics, you have a plethora of factions to level up in and obtain rewards from. You have tradeskills that can only be obtained from camping. You have dalies to do and when you finally make enough cash, an epic flying mount to buy. And there is a ton of PVP options to play with now.
These days getting to 70 is the rush, and then the real game starts.

Must be a horde character then hehe..
Alliance get totally stomped in AB on my server, we managed to win one yesterday tho..
Some guildbuddy said it pretty well "Alliance are heroes, Horde are soldiers".
Tons better teamplay and awesome healing on the horde side, As a rogue Im back there trying to take down the healers, but then they got healers healing the healers.
I moved all my toons to a new server. Am dedicating my warrior to PvE tanking and my Druid to PvP BGs and PvE DPS. :D
If I ever get my Shaman to 70 (63 now), then he will be assigned to healing duty.

Although we did lose 2 ourt of 10 last night :)

Yeh...and because its such a rush to get to 70, I do wonder what the calibre of the new 70's will be like.
I dunno.....I dont mind levelling at all.

My coworker just recently got me started in WOW. Been playing for a while and so far the game is OK but not something uber special. I think I need more PvP in a game like this.
My thing in MMO's is building exotic GvG or PvG character specs and then going in large RPK (random player kill parties) that just arbitrarily raise hell in enemy cities. Just doesn't seem like that is very viable in this game, this game seems mostly about PvE and nothing else.
FWIW I am building a nightelf druid right now.

Yeah I originally wanted to go horde on a PvP server but my coworker talked me into alliance on a RP server (scarlet crusade to be specific.) I even started with a rogue too but I hated that after like level 15 because it doesn't seem to go anywhere interesting. Plus something tells me that a rogue isn't the best PvG class. Possibly PvP solo but I think druid would probably be better.

in a situation where nobody has gear, feral druids can be rather nasty. Once you add in gear, druids tend to start to suck in PvP.
Ferals hit their stride about 20 for ferals with cat form, however bear can be ez-mode low level grinding if you know what you are doing.
Chicken feathers is only for the masochistic and don't become viable for anything other than pain until around 41.
In a PvP situation, a supported resto druid is God. Check the druid forums and see how may QQ threads are in there, its all because of resto druids.
PS: if you want spec ideas, let me know

Why would nobody have gear? Is that some kind arena thing or smth?
How would druid be in GvG?
What kind of toon would be better for solo PvP if not feral druid?

Yeah I might hit you up on that. Right now I have only a narrow understanding of how different build configurations work in wow. In fact I barely even know what is meant by "feral" druid. Only been playing for about 5 days now.
I have a 70 horde pally and rogue. All I do is play BGs really. I've got a warlock at nearly level 61 that I'm working on and I might use it for arena even though I hate the fishbowl aspect of those duelfests. I've got a retired 60 shaman as well.
I did have a paladin on alliance side that I used for PVE raiding. I was "fortunate" enough to be in one of the top guilds on an original server, and I got very well geared pretty quickly. I just got tired of getting healing gear to help people kill stuff faster so I could get better healing gear. Back in the days before BC the PVE gear was the PVP gear therefore I was the healing bitch in PVP as well as PVE, so I got bitter and sick of it.
I ditched that pally and gquit the guild with a letter sent via ingame mail to one of the officers. I've been on horde playing with a few friends ever since. I'm NEVER raiding again, or joining some power guild ever again. I don't want to be attuned to anything and my blood elf pally is even ret, because I'm not healing anymore lol.
