Anyone else getting this??

I went from .09's to .21's on my 7800GTX SLI setup.

On my my cards is w/c, the other fan (water block failed awhile ago).

Upgraded to .21's and suddenly started getting graphics problems in game.

Running idle, my fan cooled card runs at 72c. In game, it would go up another 20c or so causing these problems.

I uninstalled .21's and reinstalled .09's and now my idle is 60c and no more in game problems.

WTF??

To experiment, I went back from 169.21 to 169.09, and on my system the temps are identical. Way too high without Riva Tuner upping the fan speed.
(stock 29% fan speed) 70c idle...94c max (with artifacts) at load on BF2142.
(Riva Tuner 80% fan speed) 50c idle... max 74c at load.

XFX 8800 GT OC, Intel 6750 Core Duo.

Thanks for giving this a shot. Must have been a faulty install. I'll reinstall the latest and check it out.

I have the exact same problem. I am running two BFG 7950GT cards in SLI and it has always been (before 169.21) that I start a game, the cooling fans automatically kick up to 50% or more (I can hear them) and they stay on as long as I am in 3D mode. When I exit 3D mode back to the XP desktop, the fans stay on long enough to cool the cards down to about 55C and then they reduce speed.

After upgrading to 169.21, suddenly the fans on the cards slow down when I enter 3D mode! No matter what I do in rivaTuner or nvidia's control panel (low-level control, driver control, etc...) the fans automatically slow down when I start a game. This allows my cards to get up to about 80C, which I don't like. Saving energy or noise or not, I don't want my cards that hot. It seems to be a driver problem. I reverted back to the previous Forceware drivers and the fans work again properly. I wouldn't care if I could override the problem with RivaTuner or something but I can't seem to gain control of it.

Anyone have any similar problems or hopefully, solutions!

For what its worth... I reinstalled the drivers after de-installing them and it solved my heat issue.

Mines idling at 83c at the moment.. according to speedfan. hahaha

But I have alot of HDD's 10, a quad at over 3Ghz and its pretty warm here.. so no wonder. but still i think thats a fairbit higher than normal.
