How to hook up the Panasonic sc-pt1050

Needs some help. I have a panasonic home therater sc-pt1050 on the way. I have a seven year old toshiba tv with s video, color stream and composite connections. Until i buy an Hd tv can I get surround sound using composite hook up?

You want surround sound from cable tv? Not going to happen, im sure that system has a surround enchancer or something but cable tv is only stereo not 5.1 surround.

Some of the newer cable STBs in the UK have a SPDIF output which produces Dolby Digital 5.1 bitstreams for selected material.
