I personally thought that Sony's SXRD rear projection tech was superior to DLP but Sony always priced their gear way to high. It seems that now they're waving the white flag in defeat after it's TV operations lost 500 million in half a year. These guys can't seem to catch a break! :headexplode:

I saw this coming. Their 2007 XBR5 70" never showed up :/ I think LCoS is just too expensive to make for the prices they sell them at. THat and everyone wants OMG A FLAT APNEl1l11!!! I Can MOunt it over My FOIreplAce!!!

It sucks though, their 70" LCD, which is inferior to their 70" LCoS, is $32,999!

Me too! The last and greatest Sony LCOS RPTV is mine!

With a 4yr warranty too, just to make sure I get long use out of it! :afro:

Only to name a few, they dropped CRTs, Plasmas and LCOS.
Next to drop -> OLED...

I'm surprised that RP even lasted this long. Who seriously wants something that big and bulky in their house? Yeah, they look a little better than LCD but the size isn't worth it IMO.

I got a 3 year old LG CRT 30 inch HD 1080iand its awesome! Theres a slightly orange spot on it tho (burned I guess) and the top has a bend in the picture where it all leans right :o Not much tho and the contrast and sharpness is amazing! Really a great set for the Grand I paid 3 years ago

Current models are 16" deep. That is not "bulky". They look * A CRAPTON * better, not a little. Plus, some people want a big TV. Sony's largest LCD under $32k is 52". That's tiny.

Oh my how did we ever survive 3' deep CRT's. I guess if your room is 2' x 4' an LCD would be better. Front projectors and rear projection TV's are the only accurate displays on the market.

side note: why must open market competitions be regarded as 'war'? seems silly to me. it's just electronic equipment and not some ideology.
