Trainer no longer works with Mafia Patch

I have played Mafia a few times with and without the trainer. I just installed the Mafia patch and the trainer no longer works. When loading a level now, it bounces back to desktop when the trainer is in the system tray. Close the trainer and the game loads fine. Bummer. I hope someone updates that trainer to work or makes another.

Well, duh--same reason a no-CD patch only works for specific versions of the game and the Diablo 2 maphack only works for specific versions...

Duh, I didn't ask why the trainer no longer worked dude, I just commented that it didn't.

woa theres a mafia patch? i read in a interview a while back they wernt gona plan on a patch.. . hmm maybe another reason to beat the game again! :)

Yeah that's what I said when I found out about the patch. I found out in a forum and didn't know there was a patch before that.

I had not played Mafia since I got my 9800 Pro. It had played fine on my previous Ti4600, although it did have some big slow downs at times.

I ended up patching the game before I played it on the 9800 Pro so I don't have anything to compare the game on the 9800 Pro before and after the patch. All I can say is the game plays better on the 9800 Pro (smoother), I can't say how much the patch had to do with it, although I had heard there were some problems with Mafia (unpatched) and ATI cards. Well if there was, there isn't any more, no glitches whatsoever.

I did notice that now in the race level, a bar comes up where you can choose the difficulty level of the race and damage level, so it's much easier to beat now than it was before. This is one great game I always enjoy playing.

Now I hope someone makes a new trainer. I liked having that option when I just wanted to go in and kick butt without having to worrry as much about getting blown away, even though you can still die using the trainer if you get hit with head shots. I liked turning off the cops so I could drive any speed I wanted without having to worry about getting pulled over.

I have two installs of Mafia on Bubbles; one patched, one not just so I can still use the trainer and go nuts once in a while. :rolleyes:
