So i bit the bullet and ordered Vista Home Premium, for dx10, media center support amoung many other things.(with the buggy copy of xp i had i couldnt take it anymore(lee) ). With my newegg order i picked up a second 250gb wd hdd that is identical to the one i alredy own in hopes of gaining some performance with a raid 0 setup. Being a newbie to raid setups, i did my usual reasearch(30mins on google). I thought i had a good idea of what i was getting in to, but the problems have been comming forth since teh inception of my plan. First off i have a nforce4 motherboard, so i got the latest drivers off nvidia's website and extracted them onto my zippy. Then i enabled a stripped raid setup in my bios. So i thought i was all set, in my raid configuration menu my drives were being seen as one 500gb hdd(465.66). So i started the painfully slow installation of vista and when it comes time to select my hard drive configuration two drives appear. Both of them are identical in every aspect. So i attempted to load the sataraid driver (NVIDIA nForce RAID Controller ( E:\IDE\WinVista\sataraid\nvrd32.inf). And nothing changes at the drive selection screen. So i assumed that it had installed, but there were still two drives, not one 500gb drive. Now am I wring to assume that it should register as one large drive? Unable to do anything else, I clicked next. And continued with the installation only to recieve an error message, ending up with me at the main vista installation menu asking what language ect. Any help to get me out of this sticky situation wuld be much needed/thanked.

you have to enable RAID within the bios to enable the RAID controller.
in the manual found here:
http://www.gigabyte.co.nz/Support/Motherboard/Manual_DownloadFile.aspx?FileType=Manual&FileID=17216
on page 41 it describes where to enable it.

where it says "NV IDE/SATA RAID Function" set that to enable, choose your drives, have fun

I enabled all the stuff in my bios, it registered in raid setup utility as one 500gb drive, but vista setup only regonized it as two separate drives. I am going to flash my bios and see if that helps, then reinstall.
