Seems a bit premature to me.

And this is the first I've heard of this "Athlon 6000" thing. Glad to see they are making the naming scheme even more confusing by making this sound inferior to their previous line.

:eek2:

Not surprised to heard that.

AMD just killed off socket AM2 in 1 year after killed off socket 939 to focus on AM2+ now and probably will do the same to kill AM2+ off next year to focus on AM3.

I would be laugh at AMD if the performance of new dual core Athlon 6000 series CPUs with 2 cores of the quad core disabled will end up slower than last generation Athlon 64 X2s at the same clock speed and price.

The only selling point they had is :thumbdwn:
Phenom won't work with most AM2 motherboards, and somebody has to be a moron to get a new AM+ motherboard along with Phenom over q6600 and Intel board.

AMD won't make a **** with their mobos/cpu. I just wonder how the hell they are going to make money?

It actually makes me wonder who is making the strategic decisions in the company. Intel have had a roadmap to do exactly what they have done for years. They delivered it, and damn well. The wise move would just be to engineer a similar product and undercut with price until they got their **** together.

This is called "rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic"

2008 = year of Intel year of nVidia

They definently did not use 939 to its full potential... Hopefully amd can pull through, at this point it might be a good thing if amd got bought out by IBM, or some other company.

Someone over at the AMD camp needs to get fired. This is probably one of the worst moves I've heard from them in a while. :thumbdwn:

Yeah but could they afford to? lol.

Yeah but could they afford to? lol.

AMD market capitalization : 3.03 billions
IBM market capitalization : 170.75 billions

AMD enterprise value : 7.97 billions
IBM enterprise value : 170.45 billlions

Yeah, yes, they can. ;)

Although I don't think they will. No reason for.

It's funny because I was thinking about this about a week or so ago, wondering if the Athlon X2's were going to be discontinued. I guess they're gonna be mega cheap and I should grab a couple of 6400+ CPUs so I can have some daily usage computers with "vintage" processors, lol.
