So I got some money from Christmas and wanted some kind of 8800 Video card. I didn't want to spend more than $250, so the 8800GT seems the best option. I was looking on newegg and theres 20 results for the 8800GT, all with different prices and brands. Does the brand matter? Whats the best brand? Am I better getting a different 512MB card for the same price or is the 8800GT with 256MB just as good or better?

I'd go evga b/c of the warranty and step-up program, but any brand should do just fine. The extra 256mb of vram in the 512 model will also help you greatly with games like crysis and bioshock. Then there's also the GTS 512 if you're willing to spend a bit more..

If you have 1GB RAM as your signature shows i would go for some cheap 8800GT and another stick of 1GB.

qft :D
Make sure though you get a 512mb 8800gt, the 256mb version is too limited by its low memory.

I have to say upgrading to 2gb of ram and getting a evga 256mb 8800gt is your best option, If you dont want to get the second gig of ram, I would definently go fot the 512mb of the card. <NUFF SAID>

Yeah I was going to get an additional 2GB of RAM.
and guess I will go ahead and spend the extra on the 512MB 8800.
