Something could happen in 2 weeks time.

I knew this could happen INTEL/NVIDIA power house! two companies making great products! I only fear that prices will go up if infact Intel ends up buying out NVIDIA.
You know it will make prices go up which isn't good but that' life what can you do.
I don't think this would be good for the market, there wouldn't be any competition in the chipset market, on the other hand you would have intel boards with sli support :). Still don't know how I feel about this.

I think this is something that could be good for technology in the long run (like 10 years or more) but it could be bad for the current PC hardware market as we know it. Especially with ATI\AMD doing so poorly.

Bad marketing move. We need to have 4 major companies in the computer world: 2 for CPUs, 2 for GPUs. That way, we can always get healthy competition on the most expensive components in our computers. If there are only 2 major manufacturers of CPUs/GPUs, one of them is going to trounce the other, and we're going to get horrible prices for mediocre parts... This is not good for the industry. :(
Two week's time? I hope it's true, then I don't need to wait for the 780i board which won't come out here till before or after Lunar New Year holiday.

at least we would get SLI on intel chipsets :jumping:

The end is near. Everyone start saving for a console.
I have two I prepared earlier. ::D:

As long as we get SLI on an intel chipset I don't give a rat's ass.

As long as I don't have to mortgage the house to build my high end rig I am saving for I don't care.
As long as amd/ati stays in business<>
Damm thats three as long as statements in a row, nvnews.net record?

I thought we were already getting SLI on Intel chipsets with Skulltrail and Bonetrail?

just skulltrail not bonetrail.

Darth said Bonetrail was a no-go.
edit: uh, I'll read the last post next time. :headexplode:

skulltrail and bonetrail...
Wow... are they signaling that they're "killing" AMD?
SkullTrail is not a realistic option though really, is it? £350, Xeon CPU's only, buffered RAM only and only 2000 being made.
If Intel made SLI board at < £200, I (and probably many others) would be on the way to the shop now with a wad of cash and a big smile on my face.
ha.
with the success nvidia is currently experiencing, i dont see anyone taking it over anytime soon.
then again, ive been wrong before :D

LOL! silly rumor.
I doubt anybody will be buying nvidia out while-ever Jen-Hsun Huang is CEO (unless of course Intel wants Jen-Hsun as CEO -- they could probably do much worse than him as CEO...)

I can only see this being bad for the enthusiast if they do merge. I see resource overlap, diminished employee morale, employee firings, lack of innovation, and higher prices. Bad bad bad. We've seen all of this already with AMD. On the bright side, AMD will benifit from all this. They would be getting past their adjustment phase just as Intel/nVidia enter theirs. The enthusiast will have to wait even longer than we have been now for mediocre products at unreasonable prices.

I'd rather nvidia enter the cpu market as a competitor... and intel the discreet gpu market.
