Well Imagen that! I have a home theater hooked up to my PC and I use component out to a HDTV from my PC. I installed the latest PowerDVD and inserted The Matrix (standard DVD). It started playing I dragged the Power DVD window over to my HDTV monitor and it stopped.

I get a error about copy protection and a unsupported device. :headexplode: Funny since thats only for HD DVD's and this isn't one of them. Its also funny because even if it was a HD DVD that feature is only supposed to be enabled if the HD DVD requires it and NONE do as of yet.

So WTF is power DVD doing? and why is it forcing HDCP when its not supposed to!

Because if they don't the MPAA would sue them to death. Does your video card have a HDCP chip? The problem may revolve around the use of HDMI, possibly if you switch to a VGA connection to your tv, it might go away.

Yea my system is HDCP compliant but the 30inch 1080i HDTV I output it to is not. Well it is I just don't have a long enough HdMI cable so I use component. My complaint is that its forcing HDCP on regular DVDs and it has no right to do that. Its a clear violation of fair play user rights. But thats nothing new these days. I just installed AnyDVD to take care of the HDCP.

Try GOM Player instead! , It gives you control of the ffdshow filters so you can make normal DVD's look all nice on a HDTV :)

You can probably do this anyway but ive never seen it with such an easily accessible and configurable ui
