I dont like twinks....
Thats all there is to it.
I think its a totally unfair way to play the game and it ****s me.

We kept coming across one in AB....a NE hunter and she (I say she....but Im guessing it was more than likely a balding middle aged man behind the screen) was just knocking people apart with one blow...Hunters are bad enough to come across in the BG, but a twinked one is ridiculous.

I go and look this toon up on the amoury to confirm my suspicions and I see that at level 39 she has 34,523 Honourable kills and a whole bunch of damn fine gear.

Aha!

So I left the 30- 40 bracket and gave up on BG's for awhile as I only like to play at the end of eachy level bracket...I got to level 49 and decided to head off into the BG's again for some more honour points...
Back to the amoury to check out where the hunter Twink is.....damn....
Shes gone up to level 45 now....
Guess Ill be seeing her again :)

So...whats with this twinking?
Why????????????????????????????????????

And.....why the hell are the alliance so bad at AB?

I have a 39 twink hunter(female toon too) on horde. I'm in the most well known/best twink guild in our battlegroup as well. I honestly like playing against other twinks, as killing just people levelling through the bracket is no challenge at all.

For some people endgame is killing some NPC scripted encounter thats been beaten over and over. For some its arena, only to have to arena all over again when the season starts. You are playing through a never ending cycle of either raids, or arena and for what? gear. Well, some of us found an end to the gear grind and its through playing lower level toons.

If you want to level and not twink I suggest you not worry about PVP until after you hit the 5x bracket, but even then as alliance you'll have it rough because for some reason the naturally bad PVPers go to alliance(no offense).

look for Liqswife on Lethon, 39 BE hunter. I'm male, 31 years old, married with kids, have regular sex, don't live in parents basement and have a headfull of hair :D

Twinks are the reason blues on the AH that could go for 5-10g go for 30-40g. So in that respect I hate them, but otherwise I don't PvP until I hit 70 so they really doesn't affect me all that much. Plus I prefer raiding as opposed to PvP, but I do PvP here & there when the mood strikes me and I do alright considering my gear.

Imagine if there was no level restrictions at all on WoW gear and none of it was bop/boe (I assume you have level restrictions still? it's been a while since I played last). That's what it was like early days in EQ1. You can roll a lvl1 right now and equip him with lvl50-60 equipment. They started putting lvl restrictions and no-drop tags (bop) on gear after a few years.

Just imagine that lvl 39 WoW player decked out with gear from lvl70 instances.

For the record, I like twinking, but back in the day it was considered pretty low.

I thought spam was an end in itself. Anyway, do you lose your post count when a thread is deleted?

Ahahaha....
In saying that, my bf has 2 female characters as well.
I just find it astonishing how many guys out there choose female toons.
But as a friend of mine out it to me, if your going to spend hours on end looking at a pixelated arse, it may as well be a cute one!

well my wife originally had the hunter hence the name Liqswife and I played some 19 bracket BGs with it. I liked it so much I basically took the character away from her and used gold from my 70 to finance the twinking.

I have 2 female toons at 70, and one at 60 thats retired. I have a male orc shaman at 60, and my newest 70 is a male ud lock(17 bubbles from 70 :D) like I said earlier the twink is also female. I just think the female toons like better in high end armor, yea thats it!:D

Yes...Im thinking of making a hunter myself to be honest.
They do very well in the BG's.

Females look better in high end amour eh?
I dunno.....I have an undead rogue and lets face it, even the high end armour never looks that fantastic for a rogue....especially an undead one.
I think they could make them more sinister and evil.

I think the high end priests and warlocks can look fantastic though....Im a lover of the "look" of the robe.....just not into playing a spellcaster all that much.

It isn't just men who have female characters. I have heard from some women (sorry, it's hard to conceal gender on vent, so yes there are females who do play WoW) who will create male chars; largely because they don't want the attention.

But anyhow; I have a shamy twinked at 39 now, and used to have a rogue at 28.... If one has the money, and it's something to do, I see nothing wrong with it. So, some new player won't own the BGs; but then again first priority for a new player should not be trying to get all the best gear they're going to replace within < 1 week anyhow, beg for money, insist on havign it all handed to them, whatever. It should be to just quest and lvl, so their can make their own way.

As to latter chars? If one's playing alliance, twinking at lower lvls seems the only way to avoid so much AV post patch 2.3 anyhow; where it isn't even just losing anymore, but the raid wiping before they even get to the first GY to try to cap (if they even attempt, which many won't as they're too fixated on IGBY (where the horde plans to ambush if not before) or galv. 30 secs in, and defense the rest of the game, as increasing numbers go AFK hitting 75% of the people by now.

On the honor stand point, when my warrior alt needed thorium, and I was mining Silithis, finding a Silithyst by the aliance camp, I just walked it back. I got more honor turning 1 Silithist in on pre-BC world PvP (not really much anymore as most are in Outland anyhow), then in 1 AV. The time involved < 5 mins. On the other hand, most AV is such that on my newest 70 (actually my warrior is 68 now, as I quested on him to get my rogue flying mount for kara attunement); I just can't bring myself to suffer through enough AVs as ali anymore. With 2.1k honor on him now, and any epics way more, I find vanishing and farming wolves for rep the only productive activity when AV goes the way of 99.9% of them in this last patch. If per chance a bunch of stealth capeable can make it down, we could then try to get frostwolf GY, but that seldom happens; and the one time we succeeded the druids got greedy and wanted to take RH, while urging the rogues on to zerg the O with almost everyone up top), before the others could grave there. I went, with obvious unsucsessful protest, that we shoudl stay until the GY is capped, and let the others grave past the horde ambush, but what can I say. Needless to say, rogues aren't tanks, no matter how one tries to count it, and aren't zerging any elite bosses meant to be raided, without tank or heals...

So now, with the status quo as such; I'd actually recommend those who already have mains, twink and try to get most of the honor for s1 before they lvl, so they don't have to suffer through all the AVs and what not at 70; whilst banging their head against the wall with the alliance and whatever else. Ding 70, buy epics that day, get ready to raid, do arenas, whatever....

That's exactly what I will do with my shamy, making him more a PvP alt. I just can't stand the BGs now (unless I'm playing horde), unless I have epics rather then are working towards getting some. And in the case of that char, I doubt I'll make him one of my raiding chars, like others; largely because I don't really like to heal, and don't want to be forced into healing :D Besides I'm soon to have 3 70s on this 1 realm anyhow, so it little matters atm...

I have changed my mind.
If you cant beat em, Join em.

She will be know as "my twink" :)

Yes...I play the horde....and yes, we do very well in BG's.

I wonder why that is?

It's because when you're young, the desire to play a knight in shining armour is stronger than the desire to play an evil character (I know Horde isn't evil exactly, but that's how they appear to people new to the game). You want to be the hero. And what is more heroic in an MMO than a Paladin?

As you age, you're no longer content with playing the hero and you view evil characters as having more interesting layers than goody goodies.

So that explains the faction choices. As to why Horde are <generally> more skilled than Alliance, well, it's the age thing again. The more mature you are, the more skilled you are, because you understand the capabilities and skill sets of your chosen class better than a younger player.

That's not a knock against the alliance, or Pallies. I know plenty of players who do not fall into the above categories, such as skillful, mature Alliance players. But it remains true for the majority of players, simply because that's just the way we're made.

Y'know, I think you have something there.
I remember when I first started playing (Im in my early 30's now) and I went straight for an alliance toon.
I didnt want to play the bad guys.
I wanted to play the heroes!

But then a group of friends started playing to and they were all Horde so reluctantly I changed sides.
So happy I did!

I guess I just find the whole "darker" side of the horde more appealing.
My main is an undead...whats more saddistic than that?
But I still think she looks kinda cute :)

My troll is a hideous thing with tusks and a huge mohawk!

I dunno, the quirkier the better for me.

I look at the huma toons and I think the men all look like porn stars while the females look like snowwhite.
Gnomes...well.......yeh, need I say more.
The NE's are pretty cool looking, and so are some Draenei.

Maybe Im biased, but I just think the horde are more interesting visually.
