I've got 8800gts 640mb EVGA and I wanted to know the highest clock I can put it at without damaging it.

I've got mine at 629 core clock, 1456 shader clock, and 861 memory clock. I have the fan at 90% constantly.

I'm running at 41 Celsius (105 Fahrenheit ) on the core temperature and 31 Celsius (87.8 Fahrenheit) on the Ambient temperature with this configuration.

What's yours?

Mine is at 576MHz/1800MHz and won't budge another step without artifacting. Not sure if it is this firmware I'm using (custom) or the card, but it doesn't like 594MHz, the next step.

41C is idle, right? What is load?

I've seen some people with 700MHz with some volt-modding.

OC in sig, and have been running at that for almost a year. they never go above 70c, except in the hot summer days they hit 75c.

right now my ambient is 42c, and one cards is @ 44c, and the other is @ 51c idle.

41c is idle with 90% fan load

I'm not on my main rig right now, so I can't tell you mine, but that sounds like a good temp. Some chips just don't like to go higher; I know a friend whose 8800GTS capped out at 648MHz on air and didn't go any higher when he went to H20. Of course, he didn't volt-mod which I think voids the warranty?

My 8800GTS 640 idles at 45*c with the overclock @ 675/1620/1890 with fan at 100% all the time.

Is it safer to put the fan at 100%? Mine is only at 35% thereabouts.

Depends.. your artifacting with a fairly low overclock, it could be the temps. Put the fan to 100% and see if you can go higher on the overclock, only then will you know ;)

But yeah 35% is rather low, i'd put it on 60% or so.

mine is on 648/1950 fan at 70% no problems.

I put it on 100% and I dropped down to 51C, which still seems really high. I have 4x120mm in the side panel, is that not enough?

51*c is fine. My side panel is always open, i also have a nice cool room, which helps alot ;)

Got it. I will give a go for 600MHz sometime soon, then. :)

Both mine ran at 650/1000 perfectly, artifacts started over 655/1020.
