I got bored tonight and decided to back the FSB and memory back down to stock, and then to make things interesting, I backed the multiplier down to 7, so now I'm getting E6300 speeds. Well thinking I'd accomplished my mission of making my computer run like crap, I started the computer up. First game I played was UT2004, followed by TF2, Crysis, and several other equally pointless programs...

AND IT STILL RUNS WELL!?!?!?!?! :headexplode:

What does it take to make a computer with my specs run like CRAP????

bogging down the processor and memory is not an option btw... ;)

underclock the video card to the lowest possible speed, and turn on 16xQAA

I downclocked my GPU as well as the CPU...

SUCCESS!!!

But... I want it to be slower.... :(

Oh... btw, the 3dmark06 score is significantly faster than my 2nd rig, while the 2001 score is significantly slower than my 2nd rig.... How's that for a brain teaser... :p

It's not nice to tease.

Wow, that's the lowest 3dMark 2001 score I've seen in a long time.

My Athlon XP + Ti4400 got around 12k. :p

What... did you say something... oh sorry, I was distracted. ;)

Give it to me.
That'll DEFINITELY make it slower.

Downclock it a whole bunch and then run Crysis DX10. Then enjoy.

I downclocked.

I now get -12FPS. Essentially I'm playing the game backwards. ::(:

It's surprising smooth though.

Is it as smooth as running you backwards? :naughty:

this is exactly why I don't overclock. Adding heat, energy use, and the increased liability something will break for little to no noticeable performance isn't worth it. :)

I just downclocked everything as low as it will go... trust me, there's a huge difference between 5k and 13k in 3dmark06.... just for the sake of clarifying. ;)

And for the performance gain on Core 2's, overclocking is soooooo worth it.
