The home page of nVnews has a link to a collection of Vista hotfixes. This one looks interesting:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/940105

Has anyone installed this hotfix (or one/some of the others)? Any difference or improvemnt in your games? I have an XFX 8800GT OC, with a 6750 Core Duo running Vista Home Premium.

I installed it this time around on Vista 64-bit because when I installed Crysis it recommended it again and I was curious to see if it did anything as I never installed it on my old 32-bit Vista. Can't say I really noticed anything in other games or even in Crysis... but it did not cause any issues if thats what your asking :) I am sure it does something usefull though... sounds important anyway...

Benchmarks? I highly doubt you will see any appreciable difference.

Hey, some random hotfix I'm downloading now supposedly does this:

"Additionally, this update can help improve performance when you perform operations that are related to large disk I/O. After you apply this update, you may notice up to a 15 percent performance improvement in some copying operations and when moving some large files.

P.S. Just downloaded a SP1-prerequisite hotfix so I guess RTM is getting closer and closer for it?

I believe I have all those installed, and the SP1 RC now. Everything works fine, no performance increases though.

So these fixes aren't part of SP1?

They are in SP1. SP1 contains all fixes made by Microsoft.

I think most of these updates should already be installed if you use Windows update shouldn't they?

Yes they are, some of them must be downloaded from microsoft, but mostly all of them get from WU.

They must be in Vista 32 SP1 RTM because it says I don't need these updates when trying to install tjhem manually.

All the updates except for this one are in the SP1 RTM:
