Interesting post
"VR-Zone learned that the fastest single card from Nvidia, the GeForce 9800 GTX (D9E-20) will be launched in late March, about 2 weeks after the 9800 GX2. It is G92 based and it is rumored to be clocked between 750-850MHz."

Well it seems that the 9800GX2 has been hit with yet another delay.

Wow, yet another delay of this pointless card no one cares about. Why don't they bin it right away if they can't get it done right? Stop wasting resources on this crap! :thumbdwn:

:lame: So it's just an 8800gts with somewhat higher clocks :thumbdwn:
Besides that, any bets on how often it will be delayed? :rofl

Personally i think that nVidia is flooding the market with new cards that offer few improvements over the 1.5y old G80. The real new chip should arrive on summer (G100/GT200 ?). At time to fight with the R700 line from ATI.
I hope to see a nice challenging between Nvidia/AMD/ATI this time. See what happens when there's a clear winner: Intel delaying the 45nm parts & nVidia relaunching the same chip with different flavours. We need strong competition.

That's an Evga so you get a lifetime warranty, and official support of end user overclocking and HSF replacement without voiding your warranty.

Has Nvidia hit a dead end R&D wise or why haven't they released a successor to the 8800 series? I bought my GTX back in October of 06, and there hasn't been anything worthwhile upgrading to since. :(

The frequencies of the soon to be released GeForce 9800 GX2 have been the subject of some recent rumors but a little piece of info coming from MSI turns everything around. According to a little web page that was taken down, the MSI N9800GX2-M2D1G is clocked higher than the 600/1500/2000 MHz (GPU/shaders/memory) already reported.
Boasting 1GB of GDDR3(?) memory and OpenGL 2.1 support, MSI's GeForce 9800 GX2 has been posted as having a GPU clock of 660 MHz, Shaders at 1650 MHz and memory at 2400 MHz. The truth is probably somewhere in the between the two said specs. We'll find out soon enough.

Wow finally some real specs of this card!!! My step up(8800gts512) expires march 23, if this card comes out before that and I buy it, would I be able to step up to a 9800gtx when it comes out? In other words, after I step up with EVGA to a 9800gx2, do my 90 days to step up get renewed ?

I really like that new msi design :D
It's a refreshing break from their usual way past lame robot scheme.
If only the card below it was only half that exciting...

no...only one step-up....you can't step-up with a card you received from a step-up....

It appears as though the the 9 series is merely a refresh for the 8 series, showing improvments the we saw going from the 7800's to the 7900's. We should be seeing the real next gen series, the gt200, or gt200(what ever it's called) mid to late summer.

No, you can't chain step-ups like that.
