View Full Version : Promising Crossfire results while awaiting the X2 release.
While still not perfect. Nice to see AMD/ATI make strides.

Also appears as though X16/x4 is not the way to go. Stick with x8/x8 or x16/x16 which is probably obvious. but if "on card CF" is the name of the game. Hmm....

Interesting. Why would x8/x8 beat x16/x16 though?
I would question a couple of the benchies too, Crysis @ 1280x1024 on high, then 1600x1200 on medium...the 8800GTX/Ultra isn't being used to it's full potential.
I like that ATI finally has some contenders, I would just like to see exact apples/apples comparisons, high settings for all at higher rez will tell more.
Thanks for posting this though, something to keep an eye on.

The SLI scaling looks kinda sad , nvidia definatly has some work to do there.CF scaling looks better but damn those things run hot  90c + load temps are just too high for me.

My eVGA 8800GT Superclocked Edition runs 88 - 90 all the time. Dependant on game.

Sounds awfully hot for a GT, I thought those run in the 60s and 70s? Maybe you need to turn the fan speed up.
8800GT's run very hot they only have a single slot cooler and a puny fan. In order to get 70C temps you need the fan cranked up and from what i heard they are just as loud as a X1800XT on full blast.

I have to run mine at about 75% to keep it cool. I have it overclocked 698core, 1750 shader, and 967 mem. and playin COD4 it never went above 74 degrees.
Yes it is loud as fsck. If I were to crossfire those I would want to wc them.

Fix. the. thermal. paste.
Seems to work fine even in the high 80's I am not concearned. Although in the SUmmer (If I have not moved to the 3870X2) I might need to re-do the paste.
