Ubuntu - Try to instal monitor goes standby?!?!?

I try to install from the CD and my monitor goes into standby.. Ideas? Also the USB powers down and up again

I would check in your BIOS for any power saving features turned on then disable them. Also if the installer is anything like Debian's and you can get to another virtual console using any of the CTRL + ALT + F2 through F6 functions keys at the same time try xset -dpms to turn off the power savings on the monitor, you would most likely get back to the installer with the CTRL + ALT + F1 keys. Haven't a clue about the USB and you might want to try the Ubuntu forums to see if there have been similar problems.
