The 64-bit version of Windows Vista operating system is for about 10.9 percent faster than 32-bit Vista, according to the GeekBench benchmark for 32-bit and 64-bit Windows platforms.

Both 32-bit and 64-bit tests were done on a budget AMD Sempron 2800+ powered desktop PC, featuring Asus K8U-X motherboard with 512MB of main memory.

I thought you needed at least 2GB for it to run smoothly.

I'm having a bit of trouble believing those numbers. 32bit was as responsive as 64 with most apps for me.

And as Vin pointed out, the site may be a touch biased.

Going from XP32bit to Vista64, it feels a lot faster, and it likes to hold on to about 1.5gig of ram most of the time. I think the two are related, but I think it has more to do with how much it cache's too.
