Intel is happy to share with the world that he has a cool relationship with ATI and that it is happy to support ATI's current and future products.
Those two companies put together a rather interesting setup that included 9770 3.2GHz CPU from Intel, X48 Intel motherboard and R680 graphic card.
R680 is already known as Radeon 3870 X2 and it should be available later this month of early next month.
This is how it looks together and even in Sculltrail Intel was happy to tell the world that it supports two RV670 cards and that with the right driver it can do even four.

Awesome (nana2)
Thats one of the goof things about their boards, they are one PCB so if you water cool it, it can take only the one slot up. How NV's approch even if you water cool it, they will still take up two slots.

Tell me about it, if the benchies turn out to be really good and if the rumors of nvidias next cards turn to out to be true then hello 3870 X2 as I will take two of these and throw them in an X38 mobo. :D

Interesting! I'll definitely keep an eye on those cards. Intel support ftw :D
Hope this isn't R600 hype all over again, I hate getting sucked in by ati and their liberal propaganda..... Anyways, I hope that this this is decent, ati needs some capital to survive, if this bombs, a take over is imminent for amd/ati... Go amd!!!

Sunnyvale (CA) – Industry sources are telling us that AMD will be releasing its dual-processor R680 graphics card one week early. The NDA on all the technical specs was due to lift on January 28th, but our source tells us this has been moved up to the 23rd. We’ve yet to get a confirmation from anyone at AMD.

Dang you can only run two of these cards. I would love to see what 4 can do :)
Notice in the pic's that those are two completely different machines between the first pic and the third.

It would be wild to see four of these cards running in Crossfire, thats 8 GPU's.

Your mommy gives me everything I need.
For the first time EVER I think I will go dual (cards). Might get two of these.
I was told elsewhere that even though my board supports crossfire, it will not support these cards together. Is this true? Kinda annoying if it is. It's hardly an old board..
Sorry i'm a noob to ATI...

I think your second PCI-E lane will only run 4X in crossfire mode instead of a full 16X speed.
I personally would not want to purchase 2 of ATI's highest end cards only to have one of them bottlenecked and not be able to get what you really paid for in performance.
You would be better off with an X38 board for crossfire.
^ Damn... I'm going to have to go for a new board aswell then... Ah the complications!!

Well with new tech. You cannot expect the older boards to support. How could it if the new tech wasn't out yet.

Well im not necessarily saying his board will not support it, the point I am trying to get across is that his second pci-e slot will be a bottleneck for 2 3870X2's in crossfire and will choke his performance.
Think of it this way, Take a muscle car like a Mustang Cobra for example, would you want to put a muffler on that car that was the size of a honda civic muffler?
