Every time I've changed a gfx card, pulled ram, anything really on my GA-K8N Pro SLI, the bios reverts to default settings, just as if I reset the cmos. Overclock, everything gone.

I didn't even unplug it swapping out my gfx card tonight, thinking it may be some weird power issue, but it did it. 3rd or 4th time.

No biggie really, it doesn't take long to set up, just annoying as heck because i like to keep my case really clean.

Ideas??

Thanks guys..

The PCI bus probably re-enumerates or does an automatic reset ESCD when you remove a card and plug it, or a different one back in. That's a good thing but not sure if it should warrant a cmos reset, but it's not an unsafe approach either.

My mobo will reset cmos if I remove the cpu, but not if I remove video or ram. I guess some mofo mfg's play it safe.

I think the CMOS battery is fried, try replace it with brand new high quality CMOS battery.

Thanks for the replies guys, I may scrap up another battery, but I'll google your suggestion too Slammin, I never thought of it as a safety feature.

Thanks
