It seems as though I've heard someone mention a free image/photo editing program for Windows (something similar to photoshop), I just can't recall the name.

I don't need anything fancy, just something that is capable of doing a good job of resizing jpegs, etc. Microsoft Paint simply doesn't work well enough.

I'll throw in another great alternative as well, Paint .Net. I find it a lot easier to use for simple tasks, but it still has a lot of the features that you can find on the more in-depth editors.

I'm going to give GIMP a try myself.

I've been using Paint Shop Pro 7 for about 6 years now because its so easy and convenient, not to mention fast.

How does GIMP scale with older computers? If I like it I may put it on my mom's or my sister's computers.
