Geforce 9 9600 is codenamed G94, not G92 as people thought.

Expreview benchmarked Geforce 9 9600GT 512MB card clocked 650MHz core/1625MHz shader/1800MHz memory.

It on par with Geforce 8800GS 384MB and also doubled the speed of Radeon HD 2600 & 3670.

Looks interesting. I really hope they shorten that card up some before it hits retail though. I could see getting one of these to replace my 6800GT in my work pc as long as the power consumption is low enough and the card will fit.

Doubt that it will be shortened, but it would be nice... Looks like im not going to replace my 8800gts512 for a g94, I am guessing that nvidia was planning to release this as an 8 series card, but since ati moved from 2000 to 3000, nvidia felt they had to follow. I think that its kind of sad that this is the first 9 series card to be released... I was hoping for a g80/g92 killer

Yeah .. strange that they would release a card that's only half ass..

Here's hoping it's super cheap, that might make it worth it for some but then
again if it's no better than an 8800GT, which maybe even cheaper then this card is just silly..

It almost seems to me that the high end graphics market has gone stale, and they are trying to compete only on the mid/low end market, I want something thats a good deal better then my 8800GTX already!

It isn't supposed to be better than the 8800GT. Its a mid range x6xx card, not a high end x8xx. The $150-$200 price range should make it a hell of a buy. nvidia will finally have a card in the sub $200 range capable of beating 7 series cards (which have been between $100 and $150 for a long time now).

It's not suppose to replace/compete with the 8800gt it's suppose to replace the 8600 series cards. Compared to those cards this is a beast.

Still waiting for 9800gtx or 9800 gt before I upgrade.

This would be a great card to put in a rig I am currently building for my neighbor, I was going to go with an 8800gt256, but this might be even better.
