Are these the same drivers as the ones posted a week ago? If so, I'll wait for the next release.

Just checked and "NO" they're the same.

Actually these are newer than the last 169.28 drivers.

Are these drivers supposed to give performance improvements in Crysis over the .25 drivers? Have not tried the older .28s yet, but might try these if Crysis runs better.

They were originally released to stop UT3 or 2007 (forgotten what it was called) from crashing. Now they support tri-sli (i think)

For non-yanks here are the international versions 64bit (http://es.download.nvidia.com/Windows/169.28/169.28_forceware_winvista_64bit_international_beta .exe) and 32bit (http://es.download.nvidia.com/Windows/169.28/169.28_forceware_winvista_32bit_international_beta .exe).

Might try.... very sick of the stopped responding BS with FSX and the 169.25's....

Actually these are newer than the last 169.28 drivers.
I just downloaded the driver using the link at the top of this thread (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x86_169.28.html). A binary compare shows the install file is identical to the one I downloaded on Dec 22 2007 to resolve UT3 issues. Is there a later version available? nVidia's beta download screen currently produces an error for me.

Do the XP drivers have the same AA control panel issues that the Vista ones have?

Edit: Ok, it seems they do.

So, has the situation improved with this driver set?
Have not tested yet.... Just installed the drivers this morning... all I did was run 3dmark06 to make sure they were stable... I might get to testing some games this afternoon. I'll try FSX first though if I get a chance and keep you posted. :)]

*EDIT*.... Nope... looks like FSX + nVidia + MS is still a big ****ing POS. As a matter of fact... the error happened even faster this time! Hopefully you come up with something man...

With the 169.25's for me, FSX + 8800GT + Vista32 = perfect.

Vista 32 was perfect for me too... the issue for me appears to be with 64-bit Vista.... :( Good thing I still have dual boot with 32-bit Vista if I really need to play FSX THAT bad.... but id like to get this issue fixed as Vista 64-bit is my primary OS.

Question for you... How does dual boot 32 & 64 work with licensing? Can you easily use the same license? Also, how des Vista 64 handle non-signed drivers? That is my biggest concern about Vista 64, the elledged inability to run beta drivers.

My only concern about the 64-bit is the unsigned driver thingy aswell, cause sometimes I like to experimentate with the latest driver (bugfix, performance I need)

Year passed and people still don't quite understand this

Every driver (even beta) from nvidia, creative, ati, atheros, realtek, etc... Itís signed by the manufacturer.

Beta drivers are not WHQL signed, WHQL signatures are performed by Microsoft or Microsoft authorized group. What they do is install the driver, and run it through verifier (windows 2000, xp, vista) have an end user version of verifier, you can stress test your own drivers.

If driver passes stress test, they put WHQL signature on it.

Windows vista 64bit, won't accept the driver if it is missing the manufacturer signature. So if some Joe writes his own driver in a basement it has no manufacture signature, it won't work in 64bit vista unless you temporary disable checking.

Beta drivers from nvidia, ati etc... Will work perfectly fine with out WHQL signature.

ok, sorry for the misunderstanding, cause I thought only WHQL drivers were allowed

Same here, I didn't know if drivers must be 'signed' or 'certified', thanks for clearing that up.

You can disable the driver signing check by hitting F8 at bootup :) Also, using 32-bit and 64-bit with the same key seems to be working just fine. Then again I had 32-bit installed sense March and just installed 64-bit a few weeks ago... so it let me re-activate the key after such a long time. Not sure how it would work if you tried it with the same key at the same time....

My perfomance on Crysis under vista64 Ultimate es really low, i would say poor....

XP SP2 32bits --> at 720p AF16x no AA around 45fps with the game patched 1.1 :p using the 169.21 WHQL

Vista Ultimate 64bits --> 720p AF16x no AA around 35fps with the game patched too... using the 169.28 beta

thats onlye 77% of perfomance compared to XP ... 25% almost....:(

Am i the only one?
