View Full Version : Even the BDA admits BD still isn't ready for release

Magus and Hunt will tell you different, but I think I'll trust the BDA themselves:
http://www.betanews.com/article/Bluray_Early_adopters_knew_what_they_were_getting_ into/1199841379
Pure arrogance:
When BetaNews asked developers of BD Live whether they were concerned about a backlash from early adopters who supported the format from the beginning, we were told: "They knew what they were getting into."
Yeah, right. I am sure all the people at Best Buy who were yacked into BD purchases by some dumbass kid knew full well!
I've said since day one that BD launched incomplete, and the discs were a freaking mess. The PS3 Musketeers flamed away disputing it with NO FACTS, and here we have the BDA affirming what anyone with a brain knew all along.

Would have been nice if it didn't need to go anywhere from day one.

That's the point, why people make excuses for alpha testing on the public is beyond me...
didnt Sony launch something else that wasnt complete before? :|

He said 360.
And what about the supposed triple layer HD-DVD disc? Doesn't sound too final to me.

How did we go from talking about the Blu-ray spec to the Xbox 360?? One has nothing to do with the other.

The difference is, any HD-DVD player on the market will be able to play current, past and future releases with full features no problem.
That's the difference.
It's a disgrace that current owners won't be able to run future content.
Has there ever been a case of this happening in previous movie formats?
This so called format war has absolutely nothing to do with the consumers best interests, it's simply about the money. I'm usually ok with that, aslong as quality is assured.
I want a standalone player now that is futureproof from the off, and shouldn't have to buy a PS3 to guarantee that.
It takes the piss, really does.

But nobody knows if the triple layer discs would work on current discs... all I am saying.

I think the main selling point of HD-DVD is the fact it's consumer friendly and guaranteed throughout, I doubt they would scrap that strategy to risk alienating people. The BDA seem to have no quarms in doing this.
It's quite possible this entire generation of movie format might get overlooked ala VideoCD if both sides of the fence aren't careful.

Don't you love the deflection of the facts?
"BUtr TRIEPl LAYER HD DVD!!!"
"HEHEHE X360 TOtO!!!!!"
Wtf is it with a PS3 fans brain that makes them think of the ****ing Xbox 360 when a BDA or HD DVD discussion is brought up?
Xbox360 != HD DVD. I've said it since the beginning as well that Microsoft doesn't care much about HD DVD. Proven by the fact that WB was paid off by Sony. Microsoft versus Sony in a cash battle would end in 1 second in Microsoft's favor.
PS3 fans are amazing drones, totally under full mind control by Sony. Low intelligence lets this happen? When talking with BD fans who use standalones, we all agree on the problems and bitch at the CE's nonstop. PS3 fan? No way. Sony can shovel whatever **** in their mouths they want. It's like Sony can press a button and badabing Bad_Boy trolls the Internet posting mindless crap.

I was just watching Attack of the Show on G4 and according to the viewers, the biggest story of CES 08 was the "Death of HD-DVD". Wow . . .

that has to be the stupidest argument i have seen on these forums in a while.

I'm just saying, some of the same people complaining about ps3/BD being incomplete, were some of the same 360 fanboys IIRC. Yet said nothing. Flat out double standards.
I never said 360 = hd-dvd.

What will a new X360 do/play that my launch console won't?
Let me guess, "IMG RRROD RRROD!@!@!!" Did Microsoft say " you knew what you were getting into " when faced with warranty claims? Nope. They extended it. Can I send my BD players in for a free BDLive update?

You know how many people who had trouble with warranty claims? Talking to an indian guy on the phone. Good luck with that. People getting back refirbished 360's that died weeks after. Not to mention scratched discs which microsoft made some people pay for. 360 is the worst console hardware ever released, even worse than ps2. It cost them over 1 billion dollars. Thank god they have exceptional software to keep gamers coming back ala ps2.
It took them a year+ to get their hardware right. It took sony a year+ to get their software right. Microsoft is a software company at heart, Sony is a hardware company. Yet one gets **** thrown at it, and the other gets a free pass. So microsoft fixes something a year later, everything is cool. Sony fixes something a year a later, and they were the only ones alpha testing?
Double standards. Anyways, sorry for derailing. By all means, go back to your BDA hate. :)

Adding another layer for more storage is not quite the same thing. I think you probably realize that but want to get in a dig at EC. :)
