Since sports plays (pun :)) a big part in people's lives, and most of us get involved in this quite early on, i thought it would be cool to write down a collection of people's favorite memories of sports THEY PARTICIPATED in. I would say, anything below college level/AAA considered amateur. I will go first.
Many of you know, tennis is what i played from around age 8 to now, and have taken part in many tournaments/trips...etc. Anyways, this match happened when i was about 16 or 15. After many years of playing tournaments, you kindda get to know all the parents of other kids, coaches, tournament officials, etc. So anyways, the guy i was playing with was a regular practise partner for me, and i knew him pretty well, he was an Asian guy, and he was usually very very calm when he played matches. I have beaten him several times previously, and he has never beaten me. So anyways, we wam up, get ready to play, he serves first. In tennis, your opponent is the one who calls your shots in/or out, as you can guess, with younger kids, this causes lots of yelling/screaming, but tends to be less with older guys. ANyways, that time, the very first ball he serves, was out, i called it out, he immediately begins screaming at me :wtf:, throws his raquet down, runs to go get the official. That guy has been officiating for about 300 years, and does the same drill every time: comes out, asks the score, and usually, point is replayed, and he stays on for about 20 minutes to watch if anything gets out of hand. SO anyways, he comes out, asks us to come together, and talk to us: asks us what the score is: obviously, since that was the very first serve, there is no score yet , as soon as he heard this, he burst out laughing and told us not to bother him again , usually, things get tight with the match and refs get called out in the later stages. The opponent just kept playing, but was a terrible sport, yelling/screaming the whole match, and i havent spoken to him since :lol2:. Never expected him to act that way, tennis is a pretty personal game, so you can see exactly how your opponent is feeling and everything else about them, and they can see same about you. This would be one of my most memorable memories. lets hear your guys'.
