Crysis with patch 1.1, DirectX 10 mode, Very High settings at 1280×800 0AAx0AF resolution on Catalyst 8.451 driver.

Spec:

QX9650
nForce 780i
2GB RAM

Terrible scores, in fact it ran much slower than my single Geforce 8800GTX in DirectX 10 mode with very high settings and 16xAA & 16xAF.

Look like HD3870X2 cant handle DirectX 10, never mind Direct X 10.1.

Taht can't be right - Blacklash did a huge test on 2 3850s and they scored much, much higher. I think his were at 1680x1050. Something screwy there.

Can't see any scores?

Edit: Oh. there they are! :D

Those scores seem to be way off. Didn't the beta of crysis run like poo compared to the retail version?

Well two 3870s in crossfire seemed to handle the beta pretty well:

http://www.legitreviews.com/images/reviews/605/crysis_1280.jpg Ok, I see the benchmarks for the 3870 in Crossfire mode, which means the 3870X2 should perform close to that. So, 3870X2 in Crossfire mode should be 30-40% faster still. At least, thats how I read this.

NO these benches aren't the 3870X2 thats suppose to come out later this month. These are the single 3870 running in crossfire mode.

Well, as the 3780x2 is basically just two 3870s in crossfire on a single PCB, so logic says that it should perform exactly the same, except for a few fps here and there. So what he meant was that two 3870x2(=4x3870 in crossfire), should perform even better.

No no he said 16xAA & 16xAF (although we all know that AF dont work with POM i.e. very high).

I haven't tried 16AA myself but if I have around 20-25fps in DX10 without AA and AF (1080p), I think the performance hit would be quite huge and most likely single digit with 16AA and 16AF.

On another note I think Nvidias "GX2" card will clearly beat the HD3870X2. A single 8800GT clearly beats the a single 3870 as shown in almost all benchmarks, and IIRC the GX2 will have two of these cores (or was it two G92 cores?) then I can't see how the "X2" will beat Nvidias offering.

I personally will stay away from these cards since the addional memory bandwidth and video memory of the single GPU cards (like the 8800GTX) make a difference at my native gaming resolution (1080p). Crysis with all settings on "very high" is using more than 512MB video memory at 1080p, IIRC.

Most of the tests I did were on the DX9 path with Crossfire under Vista x64. Crossfire is broke on the DX10 path in "Crysis". It simply doesn't work, you get single card results. I did not run all very high on the DX10 path with Crossfire. I noted in each of my posts the settings I was using.

I did HD 3850 256Mb Crossfire on the DX9 path-

1680x 4xAF High = Texture, Object, Shader, Water.
Medium = All else.

1440x 4xAF High = Texture, Object, Shadow, Shaders, Postprocessing, and Water.

My guess is the X2 is behaving like a single card, and I don't know a single card that can do all very high well on the DX10 path.

Don't forget the GX2 is down clocked due to the smaller coolers and the X2 isn't. I think the X2 will out perform two 3870's in crossfire too. Probably due to the on-card chip doing the work instead of the northbridge.

The X2 and GX2 can both kiss my ass. I just got a PS3 and my 8800GTX will do just fine for the rest of the year. :p

If crysis was actually a good game I might consider a new gpu but im not upgrading just for that POS.

Just think the PS3 cannot handle Crysis. It doesn't have enough poser or not good enough. And Crysis is not a POS.

3 things for you.

1. I have a high end gaming Rig that handles Crysis just fine and yes Crysis is a POS. Sorry.

2 .I have a PS3 to play games like uncharted and some other exclusives which will never see the light of day on a PC.

3. Uncharted is so much more of a polished game than Crysis its just not even funny and the game looks damn good and most importantly is fun. (something crysis never was.)

PC gaming is on its way out IMO and this is coming from one of the biggest PC gaming fans ever.

ROTFLMAO.

I will say it again for you nooblet since reading comp>you. I am a HUGE pc gamer and 99% of the games I own are on my PC. The PS3 is the first console I have owned in years and Like I said I bought it for the exclusives plus I got a fully backwards compatible one.

And your moms computer doesn't count as a gaming computer.

Well my so called (MOMS) computer certainly walks all over that piece of **** for an excuse pc that you have listed in your sig. You really do not want to go there, trust me.

You wanna be a dick head to me for no reason bro then you can be expected to be treated like one.

The guy owns a quad-core @ 3.5GHz and an 8800GTX. He and I both owned 8800GTX SLI in the very recent past and have PCs that will run circles around that EZ-Bake-Oven in your sig that you call a "PC."

PC Gaming sucks compared to consoles, period. Console games are so much more polished & refined--there's really no comparison.

I've seeb the PS3 and Xbox 360 run and theres no way. You should stay in your console section where you belong not in the computer part.

Well spoken and if we look beyond Crysis what else is there this year coming out for the PC that will really push it?

The reason I bash Crysis so much is because that game was so damn hyped up from the get go, it was supposed to change PC gaming forever and all it really did was leave a bad taste in my mouth.

There was no excuse for a game that was that hyped up to be released in the state of a buggy **** filled fest that it was released in, not only that but the AI is the most retarded that I have ever seen. My goodness even a 3yr old game like FEAR had far better AI and dont even get me started on Uncharted Drakes fortune because the enemies act like real people and not just a bunch of retarded cpu controlled bots.
