I guess you either like it or you don't. I' don't find it distracting.

Another thing that should be remembered is that you also game on a HDTV IIRC, and grainy scenes like that don't look that much "out of place" since we all seen grainy movies or scenes on our TVs. :)

I bet it looks great in motion. :)

I'm in the process of tweaking a few things and then I'll post my .tod files and you can export them yourself.

the grain filter hides alot of the flaws so it looks more realistic in a sense, i dont personally like it tho.

Here's a few more from different parts of the game. I've toned the film grain down a bit and tweaked the lighting and overbrightening a little bit too. Keep in mind I'm trying to go for a certain style. Think "Three Kings" and "Killzone 2." If you have any suggestions on helping me get there please let me know. One thing that I think might help is darker darks and more contrast. I'll play around with that today if I have some time.

The last three shots at the bottom are ones in which I was just messing around. I was trying to go very war zone gritty look. Sort of like the opening scene to Saving Private Ryan.

nice screens, can't wait to try it out - the grainy, movie look seems to help the lack of aa as well as make it more realistic.

The shots are nice but why is it more realistic this way?

I know you're not asking me but since I made them I thought I'd just restate that I do not think it looks more realistic this way.

it helps cover up a lot of the graphical flaws. makes them look like low quality magazine scans. magazine scans always look better than the actual game because it hides lots of artifacts

I've tried all these configs and don't care for any of them. I can't hang with what I have to give up in performance (which in this game you need all you can get). The only thing I do is turn up the object detail to 4, turn on Aniso in control panel, turn off all motion blur and depth of field (which I don't like anyway), FSAA off, and the game still looks great and runs acceptable. I see a lot recommend turning on the "Use Pom". Problem is that setting disables Anisotropic Filtering. Lose all distance on the ground (blurs out). I turned it on, saw the difference (from using 16X Aniso) and went, "no way". Turned it back off quick.

Brady, i'll be very pleased if you post the neccesary files to get that graphical appearance.

Thanks

The grainy effect is not doing it for me either. Pretty ugly.

I like it, I just wish he'd update us. I know he's having 360 issue's right now to tend to so I can understand.
