Launched at E3, retail avaibility "shortly afterwards" - I guess the 6th June date is perfectly possible.

On the other hand, I can now PROMISE that the NV36 will *NOT* be launched in June. Not even in July. Late August is the best case scenario.

That is a suprise. I really thought they'd try and superceed NV31, ASAP. Seems quite strange to launch it "on its own". I would have thought they'd want to tie it into the NV35 or NV40 launch.

when you saw available... is it nv30 availability or will it be PROPER availability ?

LOL.

As if you're going to get an answer to that. You might as well ask him whether he can predict the future.

Zakelwe, can you predict the future?

(The fact your gf was B.Ed was probably bordering pre-cognition!!) :D

Uttar can't, for him the future is under NDA as it is for the rest of us...

N.. D... A..... ?

j/k

If I was any under NDA, I'd respect it I guess. Wouldn't want to get too much of a bad reputation, considering I guess that if I was under any NDA and something got leaked, they'd look at me immediatly considering my situation.
So, amusingly, I'd respect NDAs :)

As MuFu said, I can't predict the future ( good reply, too! :D ) - all I can say is that they are doing their best NOT to repeat the NV30 mistake. What more can I say, really?

Well I got info from one of the top resellers of Nvidia video cards. Nvidia is making the rounds and telling resellers to expect a new card in June. Not sure when in June, but that they will have cards in June.

I'm not going to say the resellers name, but it's one of big motherfuking gun's key resellers.

Considering more and more developers now have the beta version of NV35 (The one that's running at 300MHz). Seems E3 is the time of announcement and that Nvidia isn't messing around and June cards will be available.

Thanks Solomon. Pretty much what I had expected based on what on the "shortly afterwards" and stuff, but it's always nice having a confirmation :)

If this "300 MHz beta version" of NV35 scores 4200 in 3D Mark 03 as Solomon said in another thread, what does that tell us about the final chip? :p

Not much i guess..

OH!!!! Let me...I can predict the future on this one, or else I'm gonna have me a bit of a jolly taking a stab at it. ;)

I predict they WILL announce a June release for the NV30 and some (about 4-5) cards will be distributed to reviewers shortly after the last day of June so they can all rush together reviews in a desperate attempt to be "first posted after the NDA".

The card will be widely available 6 months to infinity after that and will meet with "disapointing" sales.... :p

I wish I knew... :( He just said that Nvidia dropped off their NV35 board and they threw it in a machine with a Pentium 2.4GHz. Not sure if it was a 100Mhz FSB or 533MHz FSB. But he was able to get a score of 4200 from a 3DMark03 result. I'll see if I can get more info from him. But I'm sure he's not going to tell me a lot because he doesn't want to get in trouble with his other developers...

That's the funny thing really. The NV30 has had anything but dissapointing sales, quite the reverse in fact! They've sold everyone they've managed to produce...

The current set of drivers aren't optimised for a 256bit bus either, that will have a big impact on the speed.

My bad, you are correct!

This might just go down as the most successful selling card in nVidia's history by percentages...wouldn't that be a hoot?

You do realize developers don't get a public driver, right?
Although there's probably some driver potential in optimizing the 256-bit bus post-release, I guess...

Actually, maybe not a *lot*. Heck, it's 64 bit packets - the GF4 MX, NV31 and NV34 use that too. It's not like they had 0 experience with it.

I was just thinking out loud :)

Any dev drivers are still going to be debug level and I doubt they yet have got the best out of the 256bit bus. They're probably using six month old code that isn't geared to the characteristics of the memory controller caches and probably isn't very efficient at aligning data properly for the new bus width.

Everything was geared for four pipelines before so quite alot of the code is going to have to do most things in two takes. And probably is stalling if the NV35 is an eight pipeline beast though, come to think of it, it's probably not.

The NV35 is as much of a 8x1 as the NV31 is a 4x1 ( although there are a few minor exceptions I guess )
That is, it looks like a 8x1, even though it ain't a 8x1 for shaders.

That's mostly speculation, but it's based on a lot of rumors I've read in forums.
