Why does it matter if the FX is getting nailed to the wall for it's poor performance in benchmarks?

That's the truth and since the truth is ineluctable then resignation is the key to keeping your blood pressure normal ;)

Hopefully the NV35 or maybe the new dets will sort out some issues :)

If not, then nvidia will have to work very hard to overcome its self imposed speed bumps.

And that is only a good thing ;)

we're glad you ejoy it. The fact is that the fx is getting stomped in all the AF and AA benchmarks that DON'T use the nvidia recomended benchmark settings.

This has nothing to do with your perception of the card though, so just BE HAPPY ;)

go into your ut2003 folder

go into system

find benchmark exe, (it's pretty conspicuous)

double click and it will run a benchmark.

After it runs it gives you a pop up with the fps in flyby and botmatch, record those on paper and post them here!

nailed to the wall?? were talking very small fractional wins and only with the absolute highest end settings enabled - now im not saying the 9800 and 9700 arent damn fast. faster than FX in many setups. but the nv30 jsut totally a piece of junk that never wins??? cmon...ease up. we just paid alot for these things... and theyre really fast . perfectly nestled in between the two fastest cards on the planet and its still got alot of driver-tweaking to go.

just stop with the extreme statements about the nv30 losing every benchmark because you know we can all pull out the links that show that being really slight, sometimes wrong, and thinning in margin with each new driver update.

(now would i buy a card with the driver/multi-OS/multi-cpu support of nvidia and have it be fractionally slower than ATi's latest speed rockets? well sure. im totally satisfied. )

so BACK OFF and let us congratulate bkswaney on his purchase and investment.

then afterwards, open the file named UT2003.ini and comment out the line "RenderDevice=D3DDrv.D3DRenderDevice" with a semi-colon and then remove the semi-colon below it for the option named "RenderDevice=OpenGLDrv.OpenGLRenderDevice"

rerun those benchmarks, bkswaney. never look back

that's 105 fps better than my score with the same setting. And you're running all highest settings correct in game? With LOD adjusted to the highest possible and vsync on correct?

Dang they r the same almost as D3D. Is that right?

Yes the game is MAXED on all settings.

BTW... The setting tab on D3D is set to BEST IMAGE QUALITY.

The graphics do seem better in OGL. :)

Thanx... I think so.
The 5800 ultra really seems to like the Asus G-bay "7205 chipset" mobo and P4 setup.
I've not had one crash unlike my 9700.

This card is much better than most people make it out to be.
I'm just glad I did not go by the reviews and got one to try myself. :)

When the purpose of a thread is to compare products then sure, comparison is good. If the purpose of the thread is to "nail" the gfFX then again, post away. When the thread is supposed to be about a user sharing his personal experience about his card, there is absolutely no reason why people should bring bashing into it.

I don't remember if it was in this thread or not, but there was one user who bought a gfFX5800Ultra after owning a r9700Pro. One of the first comments was something like "what were you thinking."

There are times when bashing the gfFX makes sense, and there are times when it doesn't. Same goes for ATI. Someone buys an ATI card and some nvidiot posts "ATI sux0rs." WTF? That adds nothing to the discussion, and just turns a perfectly good thread into a flamefest.

I'm seeing more and more flamefests and quite frankly I'm not too happy about it. You can debate or even argue without resorting to constant use of sarcasm or personal insults. It's really not that hard.

And then there are those people who ALWAYS point out the shortcomings of a card, and make blanket statements like "this card sucks. You can't possibly be happy with it."

I am actually the one asking for benchmarks of BK's FX, not you.

You are implying that I did this. I didn't. If you will look up the latest benchmarks you will find what I said is true. I did not post anything in this thread using sarcasm or personal insults (ad hominem) to validate my claims. Go check.
