I posted a blurb about this. If only one or two got OEM cards. I can see a possible error maybe on GameVE's part. But it seems that's not the case and they screwed customers over. It even shows bad business when they remove all product info from their site.

Hopefully you guys can get your money back. Companies like this piss me off...

Well, the package was delivered this morning. I'll check it out as soon as I get home from work this evening. I'm sure I'll be in the same boat as everyone else. If it's just the white box, I'm not even going to open it. I'll reseal it and send it back for refund.
Thanks, Solomon, for posting about this.

I contacted my cousin who works in the law firm. She's going to go over some stuff with one of her sales law professors this weekend. If you're not happy with what you have and GameVE won't take the card back, call your credit card company and dispute the charge.
I'm asking to find out if I can do the same thing if GameVE refuses to take the card back without charging a 15% restock fee. 15% of $400 is no small chunk of change and that's money I definitely don't want to be out if/when I return this card.
I'll be sure to keep you all posted with how this turns out.

No problem Ed,
I hate companies that screw around with the public. They know that some of these cards are pretty high in demand. To decieve the public like that. That's just fricken wrong.
Let us know what happens. We need to make the public aware of companies that sell you a product and then say, "Oh well! Not our fault!"...

i have 80mm case fans that have higher db ratings. the default cooler that comes with the Athlon 2000+ (the thin one) pulls over 72db.
its the ducting. that plastic is vibrating and its letting the noise out the back of the box. FlowFX is a damn nice cooler for free, if you ask me. i think the swithching (turning on and off) intermittently creates annoyance for the user experience, but i accredit most sound complaints to people just thinking its 'supposed' to be loud because they read it somewhere.

I've never seen a complaint about FX Flow sound levels posted by an actual owner of a GeForce FX card. I certainly don't mind my FX Flow sound level. My PSU makes more noise than the FX Flow, and the PSU is always on.

Never heard of a so noisy PSU - is it home-made? ;) j/k
More seriously though, I got to agree with you. Complains coming from actual GeForce FX owners are very, very rare - although I did see a few ones. Some of those actually come from fanATIcs who only got the card to have the right to complain anyway, so it isn't worthwhile to note.
One of reasons, I guess, is that the noise was hyped way more than necessary. Sure, it's loud, but I'd guess that compared to what the web made it to be, it must be rather quiet. In fact, wouldn't be surprised if some FX owners feared the worst and had a good surprise with it :) Who knows!

The CAI Whisper PSU has a high-speed 40 mm fan that was designed for a loud server closet, not a quiet living room. I measured only 45 dB @ 1 meter A weighting. Tell people it's louder than a jet plane and buyers are pleasantly surprised when it's not.

That would be me, after reading all the blurb about the noise i was half expecting something sounding like a high-powered vacuum cleaner. When i started up a game for the first time i braced myself..... then realised it had just kicked in and i hadent gone deaf. ;) It is loud, well louder than a normal graphics card but i think its such a good idea (ejecting all the heat out the back of the case) that i really dont mind the extra bit of noise. When you are actually playing a game i forget about it anyway... all noise becomes irrelvent hehe.

Absolutely. Thank you, Solomon, for posting about it at *********.
Even if I decide to keep the card I received, I'm going to voice my dissatisfaction and disappointment at reseller.com and at any other website that provides information on online retailers.

ya also the noise was addressed slightly with a new, firmer fan shroud and different shaped intake breather (zigzags) from that opaque white or green one. i think the what they could enhance cheaply
racercar you got the actual reference, homey. yours is the first press, right? the one that came direct from nvidia in the fancy can. so is your cooling shroud appear at all different than the one displayed at this photograph?

picts of old reference sent to first reviewers http://www.ixbt.com/video2/images/gffx/gffx-scan-front-with-cooler.jpg
ive seen even older pre-release versions.
I have to disagree with you guys on the noise issue. I have had 3 of them. The thing is my pc's are near silent, when ou put in the FX it's extremely loud, much more than 46db, it's also annoying because it's 50mm high pitch whine noise, not just turbulence. However I though I was getting the slightly quieter Gainward cooling this time. Even if I had I was going to mod it. I plan on putting the Zalman on it when it comes out. What I mean is I knew it was loud when I purchased it, but I never intended to keep it stock cooling even if it was the Gainward cooling you've seen in reviews. Either Zalman, watercool, or a 120mm fan bracket on it, is what I always planned to do. I am interested to hear what gameve says.
Did anyone order the Xtremegear card?

I was beginning to think this thread had disappeared. :)
I have an update, and this is something I'll post at ********* later. I called GameVE and talked to a really nice guy named John. He told me that although the company had ordered the PowerPack cards, what we received is what Gainward had shipped them.
He claims he was going to talk to his manager today to see if we could work out some sort of credit. I told him, gimme $30-50 back on my credit card and we'll call it even because I didn't receive DVD software, firewire card or sound card.
If any of you ordered from GameVE, call (800) 228-9395 and ask to speak with John. Call him at about 4 p.m. PST to see if he'll offer you the same deal. I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt for now. However, if he can't come through, I'm going to RMA my card. If you decide to do the same thing, make sure you put in the note that you spoke to John and that you would return the card with no restocking fee.
I will update as this situation progresses. I'm really hopeful GameVE will come through on this and offer some kind of credit. I can live with paying $360 for this card - for an FX 5800 Ultra I think that's a pretty good price. :)

Yeah, that is a very good price indeed. Nice of them to give you the option too - im sure they didnt set out to decive people. Least because they should know they wouldnt get away with it. Anyway If i do the conversion $360 is about £220 ish. I paid £370 which is around $500 i believe. :)
Did you open and use your card? Mines in the pc. What would really piss me off is a store like newegg gets the real retail in this week. We can't call before 4pm? This is also kinda weird from Gainward putting out a different OEM card. I'll believe the NV35 will come out in may, when monkeys fly.

That's when the guy told me to call. I don't suppose it would hurt to call earlier.
Ok I called he says $20 off or full refund RMA. $20 off didn't cover tax/shipping since I live in CA, So I said I'd think about it, since I've waited awhile already for a Ultra to put into that pc, and need a video card. The abit 5800 looks kinda nice at newegg btw, it appears to be a non-ultra. Nvidia should have never made a non ultra it's too confusing for these retialers.

I'm happy to see that quite a few people are now getting these cards (well on here anyway). Nice to see other people think its a worthwhile purchase too and are pleased with them. :D

FX owners
Would you all mind benching some games for us?
I am curious about the peformance and don't really trust websites ;)
If you have UT2003, raven shield, or FB please let me know!

I think this would be a simple way to drop the high pitch whine of the fx quite a bit. Since the shroud seals it inside most of the sound you hear is out the back, attaching one of these to the back might be one temporary fix till the Zalman arrives. I might try one.

I'm leaning towards keeping my card from Gameve, the card is flawless besides the noise for me. Will it support VIVO with wdm drivers and 3d stereo? I have the vivo cables from the ti4600.

Hmm... interesting. I've been considering picking up one of these.
I sorely miss having an Nvidia chip powering my display.
I've put up with ATIs bull**** for months now, hoping that one day they'll actually have a driver release worth downloading. Currently I'm using the cat 3.0s. Everything since then has been a huge step backward. And the bugs in AC2 (by far the game I play the most) have been here for almost 6 months now. That's just absurd.
So I'm considering the Gainward. Guess I'll need to do more reading.
I've had similiar experiences with ATI cards. It's just too irritating switching drivers for different games when you paid 300+ for the card it should play all current games with the latest drivers, and older games also. I don't know why ATI can't change the pattern of fixing one game while breaking another with driver releases but that's why I stay away from them. But If you love ATI cards that's fine, you have your opinion, I have mine.
Hey there's a new Gainward Expertool 3.07 it supports the FX ultra clocks 2d, 3d seperately, get it here Expertool 3.07 (ftp://gainward-ftp.de/vga/utility/ext307/)

hey do they require the Gainward proprietary drivers or do they just run on you nvidia Dets?
/me wrings his hands in anticipation of answer...
runs fine with any dets I ever tried. I rarely used the Gainward drivers.
