I'd say yes, but barely.
I'm running a 550w on my rig and I know it could use more just to be safe.

Look at those rails.....:headexplode:

I'd get a new one, yours is obviously very generic.

For reference, my Enermax 465 in my HPTC is:
3.3v @ 35A
5v @ 35A
12v @33A

The 12v being the most important part. Remember voltage times amperage equals wattage. So in all actuality, my 465 is severely underrated overall. 12v x 33a = 396 watts just on the 12v rail.

WTF is that "TRICOD" crap? Did you buy it at a fish restaurant? Red Lobster?

Throw it back.

Most of the time, you get what you pay for when it comes to PSUs.

Think of it as the 'heart' of the system.

I have no experience with Corsair PSUs.

Corsairs HX are great PSUs. (to be honest, they're manufactured by Seasonic, as far as I know)...

Try and stick with a Tier 1 manufacturer like Enermax, OCZ (they bought PC Power and Cooling), Seasonic, etc. Saving any money on a PSU is not wise since it may prove to be the weak link that zaps every component in your system. And, as you have now likely noticed, cheap PSUs will claim wattage based mostly on the 3.3 and 5 Volt rails. Good ones will make up most of their power on the 12 V rail.

well it has been running this and the last system i had nno components yet fried but im a conserned when i hear this about TRICOD so if i go for a brand PSU 550-600 i get more out of my PC? so a new PSU+HD3870X2 will get me some serious speed then?

What kind of PSU you have doesn't affect the speed of the system. It affects stability, but surely not speed.

Not the new 550W and 650W. Only the 520W and 620W AFAIK. I forget who manufactures the newer models.

Thanks for circling that stuff in red, I often have difficulty finding the info on power supplies.

I specifically said Corsair HX ;)

The TX and the VX (cheap) lines are manufactured by CWT (http://www.cwt.com.tw/).

CWT makes PSUs for Thermaltake, Enermax and Antec, among the others. Not so good as Seasonic, but still good.
