My new E6850 hits about 41-43c @ load in my case right now. I'm tempted to try and turn my fans down since this chip runs so much cooler than my FX60 did.

What is the maximum permissible operating temp of the E6850?

Max temp is in the high 60s I think.

Yep, but if I were you, I wouldn't go over 60. The higher the temp the processor is running at, the shorter the life (although by staying under the max temp from specs you shouldn't worry)...

Keep in mind that Intel's standards are measured in ambient temps (whatever Speedfan or your motherboard's utility most likely shows you). If you want the true, on-die temps check out Core Temp.

Actually I'm thinking of loading core temp just because abit's uguru software keeps crashing every time I exit the POS. Coretemp was recommended to me on their forums. Now I just need to shut off that signed kernel driver crap.
