Due out in May, Activision released a Map Test of Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory earlier today. It's a standalone MP demo and does not require the original RTCW (so do NOT install it in your Wolf directory if you own the original). If you've got DX 8.0a or higher, you're in business. :)

The file is about 100MBs.

3DGamers.Com is giving me good transfer rates.

Utah server - 155K a second.
10 minute download currently at 78%!! :D :)

anyone else play this game yet?

I have pings under 100, and it's playing like my ping is 700...

The game voices plain SUCK, and there's a ton of other annoyances.

The stupid thing was that I was the #1 & 2 player in each game LOL

The game really is worse than the 1st one...hard to do in this biz...

I think it's a great preview of what's to come in May. The voices sux so bad I want to go deaf. I had a ping of 59 and it played good, I'm running the Linux client so I do not know if this makes a difference. I like it and the choice in classes is great. There are some bad bugs though. But what PC game doesn't have em!?!?

The netcode needs work.

The face needs to go...

This test taxes my system (gotta play in 800x600!!)

90% of the voices do indeed suck (I'm getting the mic ready!!)

Voice chat menus have increased (now it's v8 to announce your role)

Animations are ugly...especially when you kill someone.

The compass needs to go back to the bottom middle and lose the overlay (the white map overlay inside the compass is to bright that medics will have a hard time seeing the transparant red icons of the needle and cross).

The exp system is okay.

I like the limbo menu.

The new classes are cool and engineers can do alot more now!

It's a good thing Activision released this to the public so gamers can give it a whirl and give feedback. It shows some promise but there is alot of room for improvement. In the end, this demo makes me appreciate what the original Wolf team had in mind had they enough time and resources to finish it and, depite that, RTCW ended up as a very polished game.

Splash Damage has the next month or so to polish this up to that level.
I hope they can pull it off! :)
