My GeForce 2 gets hot & the graphics freeze after just a few minutes of graphical work (ie scrolling / moving a window)

When I go near the cooling prong thing I'm having to take my hand away because it's so hot!

I've got the case open in front of an open window, letting in a freezing wind, but that only gets a few more minutes out of it...

Is there any way of underclocking it? And I'm not sure if it's related but can /dev/nv* be used?

This behavior most likely means the card is toast...

however if you'd like to try and underclock it you can use a utility called 'nvclock' which can be found at

www.linuxhardware.org/nvclock

I personally haven't used it to underclock a card, but I don't have reason to doubt it will work.
