I currently have xp 32 pro with sp2 and it works good. Tried vista 32 and that was much slower but only in games mainly.
Now I am thinking is it worth to go for x64 system ?
I am set for gaming system
so xp64 or vista64 or maybe 32 ?
But what are pros and cons of 64bit system over 32 ? Will I gain performance ?

I was running XP x64 for like 2 days last week before I tried the Vista Sp1 refresh. It was very snappy and ran great with 8GB ram. I had no driver or application issues. I was very happy with it. I will be going back soon... got some testing to run first.

Vista 64-bit is smooth as butter for me... just make sure you have at least 4GB of ram if you are going to run it though ;)
Windows 32bit has issues with accessing more than 4gig of ram in a machine. These issues are not "problems" as many would think, and should not be characterized in that way. The issue is that in a 32bit enviroment is that the memory of all devices, including video cards, is mapped into a 4gig space. So if you have 4gigs in a machine plus 512meg of ram on the video card in that machine, you would expect that you have 4.5gigs of effective ram. Due to the memory mapping constraint, you effectively get 3.5gig of system ram plus 512meg of video ram, and loose 512meg of system ram due to the overlap.
In addition to this, in a 32bit environment the default setting for windows is 2gig reserved for system, 2gig for programs. As such unless you tweak the system to recognize the large memory model, you will still only have 2gig for programs.
The 64bit versions of windows are set to automatically adjust the amount of memory so that you do not have to deal with these issues, and can happly use more than 4gig with ease.

well I have "only 2gb" 1x2 geil 800
well I have "only 2gb" 1x2 geil 800
I have three friends (gamers) running the 64bit version of Vista, none have reported any issues of significance. The only issue I have discovered so far is that the WHS connector software does not work on the 64bit version of windows without tweaking. As well two of the three have pretty high end pc's, one has a dual core 4gig 8800gt system, the other a quad core 2gig 8600gt.
