Why do people keep saying the game sold like crap? It sold more copies than NPC projected. They weren't projecting very high sales, but if it exceeded projections, how is that bad?
it sold like 86k copies retail in america in november(it was available for roughly half the month), beyond that we have no figures

Well when you predict low sales its easy to exceed them... Game sold less then 100K units, I dout EA is very happy about that since it probaby didn't even pay for the games development cost. It would have to hit 500K units sold at a $50 price point to be considered decent in sales (Guessing the game cost 25 million in development including marketing and other costs, PS2 games had larger budgets then that)... and I dout everyone paid that much for the game to begin with.

Besides users on this forum, I don't know a single person who is a "computer gamer" that picked up Crysis. They just assumed their computers couldn't run it. I even recommended a few not get it because there was no way in hell their GeForce 4 or equivalent video cards would have been able to handle it.
If they ported Crysis and Crysis 2 to the 360/PS3 and it didn't run like crap, I guarantee they'd sell a ****load of copies, and EA is probably thinking the same thing.
it sold less than 100k in its first 17 days in america thru retail. that doesnt track worldwide sales and games do keep selling after initial release.

Games tend to sell most rapidly during the first month after release though, especially with PC games (with a few exceptions). After the first month, most people who were really interested in the game will have bought it already, and those who weren't interested enough to buy it but would still like to play it, will probably end up downloading an illegal copy.
The first month or so of sales are really important.

More than 100 000 only in germany only in few weeks and Crysis even kicked Assassins creed ass there. I guess EA paid all developtment cost so who cares if this game did'nt sell a milions.
Butter Bandid did your console stuck in your dashboard?

Well, the sales are important if we want to see more games like Crysis, no one is going to front the developement costs if they game doesn't sell well. I'm not trying to put down the PC game, I'm just saying that I think it would be a good move for them to port it to the PS3/360. I DO NOT think it would be a good idea for a "PC" game to start developement on consoles, and then get ported to PCs. Since Crysis has already been designed from the ground up for PCs, I don't think it would harm PC gamers at all if the engine was ported and toned down to run on current gen consoles.
I haven't booted up the 360 in a while, so I'm not sure. I haven't heard anyone else complain about them locking up today though.
EDIT : 360 isn't giving me any problems right now.
If you're talking about the PS3, it seems to be working fine.

I think Crytek will mainly get cash from CE2. I heard that they already had back developtment cost only from CE2 license.
