Halfway down in this article it says:
The same engine that powered the visually-impressive Crysis, CryENGINE 2 was originally purported to be simply too powerful to be handled by the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Details about the engine modifications made to accommodate the new platforms, if any, have yet to be announced. In addition, it appears that Crytek Studios is on the lookout for new employees interested in working on PlayStation 3 internal development, but little else is known.

does this mean it's going to be somewhat consolized? or be less powerful to accomadate inadequate consoles?
There's no need to dumb the engine down, just the settings of it.

They gonna optimize the engine
that doesnt rly imply anything imo.

Translated with babelfish, to late to translate it myself, just did some small improvements myself (0:52am already here):
On the game Developers conference in San Francisco next month, Crytek will show a version of their crossplatform version of the engine.
The CryEngine 2, the engine used for Crysis at present, might be used to develop the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 games on. A restricted group might see this on the GDC. IF we possibly will see a port of Crysis to the consoles are at present still unknown.
What Crytek still want show to the general public on the GDC are how well the optimised engine can twist on a pc. of $600
does this mean it's going to be somewhat consolized? or be less powerful to accomadate inadequate consoles?
Wow, talk about jumping to conclusions...

i was just wondering, because it heavily influences my next build. and it's time sensitive between computers and airsoft
I don't see anything Crysis does that the XB360 or PS3 couldn't. They may have to trim the poly count and the texture res a little, but its not like theres any major graphical features PCs can do that consoles can't. It also plays a bit like a console game (note how the suit controls are accessed), and its a pretty simple game, not a deep sim or rpg that requires a complicated control system. It would be a stupid business decision not to port it.

Heh, you must spend a lot on airsoft... you have one those airsoft RPGs or something?

Well they need a steady FPS aswell and high end pcs can barely run the game, yes, they can lower everything of course

It's mean that lame developers will start making crap for consoles.

Well they made some games for the consoles aswell with their first cryengine, not a big succes, but I don't think Crytek is gonna leave their path completely

Don't you guys wish? Then you could actually play the game at a good FPS and high settings...

I can play the game at a good FPS and high settings, but at 1024x768

Then thats not at high Settings in my opinion. I know dont know about you but I consider High Settings a good resolution, at a low resolution no matter the settings the game still looks like ****.
i play it with good fps and high settings

Maybe if they downscaled it something awful, ala halo 3/pg3, and highly optimized for console, I could see high running on 360/ps3.
This is just a dumbed down version of cry2 tech though, don't fear it's been consolized. It's like what they did on xbox with Far Cry Instincts.
The pc engine is of it's own.

blah still they said many times before that CryEngine 2 will be also for consoles but also they always said that Crysis won't be portet.
BTW THEY didin't made Instincts. Instinct was made by Ubisoft devs not crytek.

Well if it sold well on PC then we wouldn't be seeing it on consoles. But that prolly won't be the case.

I think Crytek needs to hire a bug team more then anything else. ;)

Yeh what's the bet it will be 640p like Halo 3... jaggie central
(1) smaller environments
(2) more tiled/repeated textures (saves on RAM but harder on CPU)
(3) less post effects, etc.

They're probably looking at porting the engine to consoles in hopes of making some actual money. Didn't Crysis sell like crap?
Porting the game to consoles is probably their only hope of ever breaking even on the deal.
