So, if anybody has a copy of the original 1993 mail order release DOOM with the box, manual, disks, etc. in relatively good condition, I'd be willing to pay $100 for it.

PM me if interested.

would they still be readable? ;) I actually ditched all things I had related floppy, cause I rescently wanted to wipe HDs (to sell) on a system that had no cdrom. All my floppies had sector errors (half of them were driver and utility disc from manufacturers that I had never used before), and my laptops drive no longer reads disk anymore, so I only had the only floppy drive in the cdromless computer.

floppies just dont last worth crap.

Yes, I want them that much to the point where I'll overpay just to get them.

My Doom 1 disks actually died a long time ago. I sent away for them in 96, only played shareware doom 1 and retail doom 2 before that.

What's wrong with buying it via Steam or you a collector?

Best thing to do is go here:-

http://www.mobygames.com/game/dos/doom

and register an account. There are people on those forums who can supply an original for a price

I have them but they don't work anymore. I will gladly part with them for $100.

Do you have the original box and manual? I do own a playable copy of the game (several, in fact) -- this is just for my collection.

If you have the box, manual, and disks, and it looks reasonably good, I'd buy it for $100.

What year was that and how much did you pay? I got the shareware disks at Walmart in 93 for like $8

This got me looking and I did find some goodies. Found my Doom 2 and SW:Dark Forces games for the Mac!! Doom 2 is over a dozen floppies and even it offers increased resolution over its PC version lol. Maybe I'll pull the 33MHz, 36mb ram monster Mac out and play them in their original glory
Good luck with your search

Does Doom 2 really have higher resolution assets on Mac? I never heard of that.

I know its weird but they have it plastered on the back of the box lol. I was able to find this (http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0EIN/is_1995_May_3/ai_16891882) info on it online
