Software to check for dead Favorite links?

I notice my Internet Explorer Favorites list contains a number of dead links. I was wondering if there was a free utility available to test these links, display which ones are broken and ideally provide the option to delete them. A Google search showed a bunch of commerical applications used to check for broken links in web pages, but that is not what I'm after.
