View Full Version : Need a new Anti Virus
So my subscription for Notron 2007 that was updated to 2008 for free is now over and now I am searching for a replacement or renew. I was thinking of buying the full AVG for my computer because I had used the free edition on all my other computers in the house and like it, never had any problems with it. Any recommendations? :headexplode:

I recommend renew Norton 2008, it has very small memory footprint, control applications allow or deny access to internet and detect all rootkits than AVG do.
AV-Test GmbH tested on latest anti-virus 2008 products to find out how each performed overall. Norton 2008, Trend Micro, F-Secure and AntiVir has 7 positives.

You can get a one year license of Kaspersky for free through TrialPay. I got mine by signed up for a 14 day trial of Real's music service. I was instantly emailed my key for Kaspersky then a day later I canceled my Real Subscription. Saved $60 bucks or so. Here is a link if you want to try it.

BitDefender10 AV is now free since BD2008 came out. I would say it's better than AVG. It's no resource hog either.

BitDefender Free Edition is your chance to use one of the world's most effective antivirus engines for free!
BitDefender Free Edition uses the same ICSA Labs certified scanning engines found in other BitDefender products, allowing you to enjoy basic virus protection for no cost at all.

sophos avg , avast , antivir
I like AVG, but it always thinks EVERYTHING is a trojan. I was in the beta for a now-released game, and AVG kept saying it was a trojan, and wouldn't let me play the beta game, even though the whole reason I subscribed to Fileplanet was to be in the beta, lol.
So I uninstalled AVG and usually use Avast.
