I don't know but you have to admit the guy is fantastic. He has a uncanny ability to turn to his check down receiver and hit him on stride. That shows his work ethic. It means he is constantly working on the plays and able to see the field. If you watch him it is great. The first receiver will be covered but he will roll his should towards him to freeze the middle and then switch to the check down receiver. It is great to watch him.

Nope. That honor is long gone. Ever since they protect the quarterback so much, the QB ratings go sky high. I'd rather see a scrambling QB, than one that can stay in the pocket for days. They now have an official stat about how many throws are in the pocket. Boooooo.

Modern quarterbacks? Brady might have a case. After all, his numbers pound those of say Troy Aikman, who got his for winning rings. The same could be said for a lot of quarterbacks, like Phil Simms for example. Brady, Manning, Marino, Steve Young, Favre, etc. are clearly in a class of their own given their sheer numbers.

Moss, Stallworth, and Welker don't come anywhere near matching Rice & Taylor.

Still, Brady regularly has insane completion rates in these games, and hardly ever turns the ball over. Plus the guy has ice coursing through his veins in crunch time.

Before he was an efficient passer and was always considered to have a sound mind and played to the game plan. Manning was always considered the superior quarterback because of his numbers, but he always lost the big game. That changed last year with the Bowl but this year, because Brady has big numbers (thanks to Moss) he is now being touted as the greatest ever?

He is definitely one of the most effective quarterbacks ever but I can't put him at number 1.

I don't know. Six of their games (AFC East) were free passes this year. Rice's 22 came in a strike shortened season. Otherwise, he could have had 30 TDs that year for all we know.

If Brady wins another Superbowl, he is absolutely in the all-time QB elite. He'll have to finish his career before we can really say if he is actually the no. 1 all-time.

I don't care if he is the best of all time. What I know is his ability to go to the second and third receiver is the best in the game right now.

WRT Moss, just like Rice and Montanta, Brady still has to get the ball to Moss.
Look at it this way, Montana had a better running core than Brady. They helped to open the field up for him. Brady had some good running backs but not on the level of Roger Craig.

What makes Brady so good is his work ethic. Some one who comes from no where to win 3 rings is a very special talent. It takes more than skill to be the best. It takes hard work.

All said and done, if you had to chose between Brady or Montana, would that be such a bad position to be in?

Oh and the protecting the QB argument is right out. That only affects the longevity of QBs not their ability to play. In the past QBs used to be punished into the ground. Now you will still have the lost play but your QB won't be sitting beneath a curtain in a assisted care facility shouting out cadence to the staff in the other room.

What impressed me the most about Montana was not his 49er days, it was when he went to Kansas City and still put up great numbers. Any quarterback at the pro level that's considered "good" by all means should be able to put up amazing numbers on a well coached team thats overloaded with offensive talent.... what kind of numbers do they put up on a team where they don't have an amazing o-line, 3 really good wide receivers, a great tight end, good running backs and a division that has some really bad teams in it?
