Throughout the development process we will be releasing milestones, alphas, betas, and release candidates—milestones marking the furthest from completion and release candidate the closest.
The UI in this image represents a Milestone 1 UI, meaning that we have begun taking all of our UI work and consolidating it towards a final interface. Like Microsoft or Apple, this UI may evolve substantially over the course of its development.
The alpha available soon will be a Milestone 1 release, meaning it will mark the first leap towards getting Cairo out into the world. The UI milestones are not necessarily going to coincide with the release milestones.
Questions, comments, criticisms welcome.

looks interesting, have not tried it, probably not any time soon.

Looks interesting. I'll definitely keep an eye on it, but I doubt I'll be trying the early releases.

I would need a compelling reason to try it... quite frankly Windows is second nature to me (even Vista now)... whats the point of learning a new interface at this point if it has nothing breathtaking to offer?

Need a compelling reason?! Why it makes you that little bit more hardcore. I mean you could use another OS, but that's just way to underground.

I always had problems when using shells like that. So I stopped :p
windowsblinds and themes are ok but shells are a different matter, you will ALWAYS find a bug and something that doesnt want to work

You can't. :headexplode:
Looking at the fonts, I would say thats XP, trying to look like a cross between Vista and OSX.
Such a shame, the Vista search box and it's indexing function is pretty much all I use on the start menu :)
Makes everything else pretty much redundant.

I expect they appear when you mouse over them. Just a guess. Looks nice though.
I assaume it's just a change of theme?!
It's a shell hack, therefore there are going to be bugs.
I did not find a single shell out there for XP when I had it that did not have bugs. Sure, it looked nice but who the hell cares when it doesn't work.

Looks nice, but after having tried different versions of Vista Transformation Pack, I am kind of leary.

well this is not like transformation pack, transformation packs replaces and screws up important system files.
shell simply instead of using explorer.exe a different program will be used.
Anyone else remember Aston? Rocked for 98.

This isn't a "skin" for windows. It's a whole new shell. Not just simply replacing files to make it look different. Entirely reworked.
It looks just like OSX.
It doesn't look anything like OSX......

It looks like OSX would if it too had it's shell replaced.
