I use a geforce 8800gtx and i play CoD4 at 1920x1080 on a 32in LCD through component cables. All settings maxed out. I get significant framerate drops when playing either single or multiplayer. as far as i know, 1080i is actually 540p so theres no way my LCD and my video card is running at 1920x1080 even though CoD4 is set to that resolution. Could someone clear this up for me that would be splendid. thanks.

well no to run 1920x1080i you need to set it to that resolution and then the video card does the conversion... why use 1080i on a lcd tho?.... i think 720p is what you should be using... 1080i is for crt's

If it's not a 1080P TV why don't you just run it at its native resolution?

sorry to butt in, but im going to be playing CoD4 on my 50" Plasma, and it runs at 1080i through HDMI. i'm going to using VGA from comp to TV, now what should i set COD to? not sure what VGA can run at, i think it will still do 1080 wont it? oh, and i'll be powering the plasma with a 8800GT. i assume that will limit my rez choices huh ...

Why are you guys even running the game at HD resolutions when you have the option of running it at the TVs native one? Scaling makes the games look worse.

i have no idea what my TV's native rez is? all i know is it defaults to 1080i when i plug a DVD in through HDMI.

what i trying to understand is why my vid card stutters at 1920x1080. i can tell the difference between framerate drops and stutters. this is cleary a stuttering issue at this resolution. BTW it looks great.

Are you Overcloking? For some reason (that I have not find out yet) every time I OC either my CPU or GPU, COD4 becames a lag fest
I revert to normal speed on both, and voila. All is nice and dandy
Can not explain why this is.All other games run normaly with OC (including Crisys).
