I need some recommendations on a small but accurate temperature monitoring tool that can work on all hardware.

I haven't tried it, but I assume that a monitoring utility that came with an Asus mobo, for example, won't work on other brands.

Works pretty well for me across most systems I've used it on.

Speedfan, Everest, CoreTemp (for accurate CPU core readings), etc. I've used them all and they're great, but be advised that Everest is not free after a trial period ends.

I always go with Motherboard monitor 5 (mbm5) and Samurize to output values with own custom skins. With plugin, Core Duo 2 is supported in mbm5. Works in Vista 64 too :)
Been using this setup for my past three rigs, and they go back quite some time.

You dont need samurize with mbm5 but I just dont like the looks and feel of mbm alone, plenty of sensors to monitor volts, fans, temps etc. support to auto shut down on fan filure or with set temp treshold etc etc
