Looking for an upgrade as I think it's time to change my 15 month old 965p ds4 rev 1.0, won't do anything above 380fps with my Q6600 so limited to 3.4GHz

What intel motherboards would you guys suggest?

I have no idea how you did that....

but yeah Striker Extreme is good mobo so far for me. I have a Zalman 9700 which keeps it at 40C idle

Whats the difference between the P35 and X38? Looking at the Asus P5K an Gigabyte X38-DS4 which are priced about the same.

Also, i'm currently using a Z9700 with my Q6600 and it does get a little hot under load, would any other air coolers make a difference?

I got my Q6600 stable @ 3.6GHz with idle temps of 43-44C on air with a Thermalright Ultra 120 and a Scythe S-Flex 1600 120mm fan. My motherboard is an Asus P5K Deluxe (Intel P35 chipset) BIOS 705.

whats your voltage?

Bump, so what should I go for Asus P5K, Gigabyte X38-DS4 or even the P35-DS4?

The X38 is DDR3, I had a P35 (see rig) and thermalright 120 Ultra Extreme with a Paspt 1600rpm

There are DDR2 and 3 versions of the X38, the gigabyte X38 DS4 is DDR2.

Vdamper? TRUE? what are these?

Also, can't seem to find a P5K Deluxe, just premium and P5K-E, unless that is the Deluxe verion. :/

I'm kind of edging towards Asus as my experience with gigabyte hasnt been great but does the PCI-E 2.0 make a difference? Are the X38 more overclockable? They seem to rate the bus upto 1600 vs 1333.

Same here...but I got my setup running at 18-23C Coolit Freezone.

I thought the Freezones aren't great for Quads??? Or are they ok for G0 Quads ;)
Others may disagree...but I have not had one single problem out of my setup.

I must warn you though...some have had terrible experiences with the freezone.

There are better solutions out there.

ASUS P5K Deluxe same as premium? as I'm struggling to find the Deluxe here in the UK, google is showing pages with product no longer available and or with no stock.

TRUE stands for ThermalRight Ultra Extreme

Vdamper is a option that practically removes all vdrop on the CPU and is now known as Load Line Calibration. Its a HUGE help when OCing a Quad core....

As for Deluxe VS Premium I have no idea

You want a good air OC? Try the Thermalright Ultra Extreme with Arctic silver 5. For added measure get quality 120mm fans. Put one pushing air into the HS and the other pulling it out. You could also lap it's base and the CPU for an added edge. That's how I roll.

Also connect your components to good clean power, or that is a quality PSU. That has helped me more with overclocking than you might think.

Allot of users are recommending the P5K Deluxe but there are none available here from what I can see, just the Premium, so could somebody tell me what the difference between the premum and deluxe and maybe why there deluxe in nowhere to be found. :o

The premium is (from what I can tell) identical and I know for a fact its Vdamper works so grab it. ;)

My Freezone has been holding up well so far, but it simply can not take an OC at 3.6 or above as it gets overloaded, that is to hot. Normal everyday stuff and gaming my OC of 3.4 is fine, but still warm.
