View Full Version : How do I make Crysis run better when fighting lots of koreans?

Specifically after I rescue the hostage in the school, the whole base is looking for you with soldiers and tanks and stuff, and fps goes down to 19, lowering res won't help. Any known tweaks?

Get faster CPU &,or perhaps drop the quality settings down esp particles/post processing/physics i suppose.

LOL you have a damn killer system and youre complaining over bad FPS in firefights?

Youre beyond me! anw all u can do is either getting QX9770 and 3-way SLI or lowering your settings.

That is from the particle effects, so perhaps tweaking some settings to lower/remove particles (or some of them).

Crysis runs ok ONLY if you either set the resolution low and keep settings high or keep settings at medium and crank the resolution. I am finding it very difficult to get settings I like... at 1920x1200 Medium it runs fine but looks bad (in comparison to High settings, mainly Shader setting), and at 1440x900 High I always get over 20fps but it looks blurry and kinda bad :o

The lack of real AF due to the design of the ground doesn't help either...

On my meager setup, it is quite playable at 1680x1050, no AA, no AF, and all in game options set to "High". And it doesn't look half bad either. :D At some points it will get kinda' sluggish, but they soon pass.

I decided to just camp the stairs and kill them as they came up. Once most of them were dead the lag stopped. Whats funny is that even when I dropped everything to low, it still was 20 fps when I saw them all outside

He's using 2560x1600, the 3007's native resolution.

Well good luck with that at that resolution!

Well, for 2560x1600, you better go into the future, get a better card, and then return, to play it with good performance.
:D

It actually runs pretty good with 25-40 fps (shadows medium everything else high), except for the first snow level and last boss, where I have to lower it to 1920x1200. This is with SLI on, I'm getting really good scaling with it. I tested with SLI off and my FPS was 15-20 at this res:

Certain areas (like the one I posted earlier) involving lots of soldiers, lag the game to 20 no matter what res or detail setting I put it on.

Murder all the koreans before you rescue the girl. That's how I keep the action to a minimum and fps to a maximum. I've played through that mission about half a dozen times now and I've found it easiest to slowly and methodically approach from the left and follow along through the shallow water just off shore and clear them out along the left side of the base.

Then I eventually work my way all the way around to that large flat grassy plateau near the road that leads to the tunnel in the mountain. Then I just creep through the base through those little huts and then eventually work my way into the buildings clearing them out as quietly as possible. At that point about half the forces have been removed and at that point, I make my way into the school building, clear it out without rescuing the girl and then sit on the roof and snipe guys. It basically turns into fish in a barrel until they start flanking and tossing grenades up at you. At that point, I usually fall back into the stair well and take them out as they come up the stairs.

At this point, the base is pretty much empty possibly with the exception of a few left overs around the gas station. I usually initiate the tank scene at this point and lob grenades down a the one that comes directly up next to the school to blow it up and then if I'm out of rockets (which I typically am), the huts off next to the shore typically stock plenty of nade launchers to take out the 2nd tank by the gas station.

All of this transpires at a smooth 25~30 fps.

It's the subsequent jungle firefights along the river where you basically have to rambo through a couple of mobs of koreans (unless you sneak by down through the gully in the river) where the frames start to drop.
