I've just spend ages looking for a computer desk, nothing with cupboards or cd racks or anything like that. Just a nice big plain ol desk. Does anyone know a good place (preferably in England) to buy a damn desk, and also where they dont rip you off by charging you several hunded pounds for a bit of wood:eek:

 see now look what they made me do

Could try argos? (no I'm not joking)
If you mean something like this: http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/commerce/command/ExecMacro/ols_prod_detl.d2w/report?prrfnbr=6210090&prmenbr=6970&type=big&thisMode=ols&cgrfnbr=774377

£70

Check out the charity warehouses as well. I got a huge desk for about £30 from our local one. They usually have ex-office stuff knocking around and your money goes to a good cause and not some capitalist money grabbing firm... Easy tiger

I LOVE my desk :) it is big and woodeny and stuff and it has lots of space for my monitor and my printer and my other monitor and my coffee mugs and my bottle opener. I got mine from Father Christmas, but in an entirely unrelated topic, I believe my parents do a lot of shopping at Ikea :D

I am so lucky that the house I am in came with a massive desk that supported 2 monitors with no sag (unlike my last one)

one thing you can do... (not kidding) is perhaps put one together yourself... if the table top is wide enough you do not need to get a keyboard drawer :)

I have one but I don't use it since it is easier for me to use it on the table top :)

I really want to know how they make them desks, I'd like to know why they charge that much

They are made by children in a chinese sweat shop making them and they each get paid a dollar a week (or 3 cents per desk).

Actually that would not suprise me, while searching for "cheap computer desks" the cheapest reasonable ones (like the argos ones) are usually at least £200. I personally find that rediculous when they are advertising as home office too.

I just use a 30" x 60" table. It cost about $30 new and is rock solid stable, though I havn't tried to oc it yet.

I spent some time looking at desks but when I saw how awsome the simple table could be I couldn't resist.

I've had bad experiences with overclocking desks before, but I always set my desk leg timings to 'aggressive' :)

I just use Ikea tables: one plank of wood (size to suit you) and four legs (style to suit you). Bring together with provided screws and voila! One Table. :)
